none20244 Posted April 15, 2023 Report Posted April 15, 2023 Good afternoon all, Do they have computers on board the ship that we can use to check emails or the internet, or do i need to bring my own Quote
Ampurp85 Posted April 15, 2023 Report Posted April 15, 2023 They will have a few but you will need an internet package to do so. DoomSlayer and Ryan79 2 Quote
Matt Posted April 16, 2023 Report Posted April 16, 2023 If you have any phone made in the last 5 years, it probably works better than Royal’s free computers PhillyLady, bobroo, Carlos A. and 4 others 3 4 Quote

You need the internet package to use a computer, if you can find them or if it was your own. You could buy a 24 hour pass but it’s about $29. The older ships seem to have a “business” center, on Anthem there was a computer in the library. I’m not sure where the computers are on the Oasis class. if you have a cellphone provider and service at the ports perhaps your phone can be a hotspot for your laptop if you can’t get what you need off of your phone. Linda R Posted April 16, 2023 Report Posted April 16, 2023 I have seen computers in Diamond Lounge. But not sure if there is a charge. Quote

The only Diamond lounge I’ve seen 2 computers was on Oasis. You needed the internet package to use them. I will say sometimes you might luck out and someone has left themselves logged in on the computers. Quote
twangster Posted April 16, 2023 Report Posted April 16, 2023 In some cases the guest computer areas are being removed when a ship is being serviced during the 5 year shipyard visits. Some new ships are being built with them. If you need a computer during your cruise you should consider bringing one. Quote
WAAAYTOOO Posted April 16, 2023 Report Posted April 16, 2023 While not free (you needed an internet package to use them), the "public" computers on both Explorer (Deck 9 - Internet Lounge) and Oasis (D Lounge) were very useful. Particularly on EX, where the internet was abominable....sometimes the only way I could get online was to go to the computer area and use one of their computers. New ? No. Wonky sometimes ? Yes....but still far superior to online connection. I was grateful to have access to them... DoomSlayer, Villageidiot, Snotarni and 1 other 4 Quote
Maddie Nagai Posted September 22, 2024 Report Posted September 22, 2024 Hello, I have a question for you all on the Navigator of the seas ship. Can I bring my laptop on board, or do I leave it at home? Quote
Matt Posted September 22, 2024 Report Posted September 22, 2024 Yes you can bring a laptop on the ship RCIfan1912 1 Quote
Ryan79 Posted September 22, 2024 Report Posted September 22, 2024 Of course you can bring it on board. I bring it on board to “work” every once in a while to avoid having to use PTO on cruises DoomSlayer 1 Quote

Gilley Posted September 23, 2024 Report Posted September 23, 2024 Will the next cruise or C&A ambassador let me use their computer to check in for my next cruise while I'm on board. Quote

Gadget Hackwrench Posted September 23, 2024 Report Posted September 23, 2024 There are many computers on the bridge of the ship. However the bridge officers tend to get upset if you start using them for checking email. Especially the navigation computers. WAAAYTOOO 1 Quote

You can access the RC website without paying for Voom. Though I've heard you can't check in via the app while on ship wifi. Quote

I've tried several times and always have to go to the website to actually check in for another cruise while on a cruise. Quote

twangster Posted September 24, 2024 Report Posted September 24, 2024 I use a VPN while on board a ship to check in for another ship. There is something with the domain names that prevent check in from working when on board a ship. WAAAYTOOO and billdauterive 1 1 Quote
