AGSLC5
For me two things. I always worry about my luggage so the new RFID chips that will be placed and then i can track my luggage to me is great. I will have one less thing to worry about. Also, I am just so looking forward to seeing Starwater and the mini shows on Roboscreens.
lucasco
One thing wasn't clear to me. Do I need an internet package to use the IQ app on my tablet during the cruise? rekkie
rekkie
Of all the things Royal Caribbean announced regarding the technology on Quantum of the Seas, what impressed you the most! Im impressed that they took all of my suggestions on board and implemented them ;) But on a serious note.... I love all of the technology announcements. I also hope that they permit, free of charge, access to an intranet style network that lets you stay in touch with friends and family on the ship via your phones and tablets. Although they may be and I missed it. The one thing they didn't explain - Sidewalk to onoard in 10 minutes? Wont there be a line of some sort to collect your SeaPass or WoWBand? Im pretty sure you wont be able to just walk on. Matt
jticarruthers
The technology all sounds impressive, none of it really excites me though. For the most part I cruise to get away from technology not to bring it all with me :) I would imagine that much like Disney does with their magicbands that once you complete all the online paperwork they mail them to you in advance so you would already have your bands and just need to do the passport check before boarding? Might even be able to setup a pre-check or "Repeat" passenger check for that too though. App on board would be interesting as long as there is an intranet so I don't have to pay an internet charge to use it. Given the poor implementation of most things IT for RCI and the poor coverage of the onboard phones on Allure I am glad that other people will be trying it all first though ! I have only cruised once, and it was awesome not to have my phone ringing all the time! Only the cruise was important! :D They sould think about we who don't like internet in cruise ships to enjoy those apps without any extra cost

Galveston Steve
I'm not a big drinker, but I was impressed by the Bionic Bar. Once again Royal Caribbean goes outside the box. In this case they blend two things that many cruisers are interested in, booze and technology, in a uniquely Royal way. I just continue to be amazed by the innovation of this company. The other thing is the 40,000 tablets... one for every crew member in the fleet. I think this will indirectly benefit us cruisers because the crew will be more motivated by being able to stay in touch with family and friends. It will also give Royal a big edge in recruiting the best crew members and ups the game in employee satisfaction. Innovative. Matt
Tylor
I'm more impressed with the upscale look and feel of the ship than the technology it offers. If one isn't paying attention, then you'll most likely miss the technology, but one can't miss the look. It's simply beautiful.
bcarney
Of all the things Royal Caribbean announced regarding the technology on Quantum of the Seas, what impressed you the most! The high speed internet will be nice (because the world doesn't have nearly enough selfies), but for me the spinning/moving screens/monitors are fascinating because they can offer up whole new types of entertainment. Cleo
If I had an interior room, the Virtual Balcony would be very impressive. This trip we will have a real balcony room. I wonder about the apps. If I use my smart phone sea, will international charges apply? The RFID bracelet, which works as the room key and can also be used to make on-board purchases and navigate the ship, is an interesting idea. I will probably like the convenience however I do like to wear my bracelets and wonder how that will look.
mike
I'm glad they're using RFID even with some of the issues I've heard Disney has had with it. I am hopeful that it's a resounding success so that it hopefully gets rolled out to the rest of the fleet in the very near future. The idea of possibly speeding up customs (Galveston I'm talking to YOU here!!!!) and making life a little easier onboard with one less thing to worry about in your pockets is a wonderful thing. With RFID it's really about the software behind it. Hoping RC's system is simple, yet effective
