Serenade of the Seas

Recommended Posts

serenade is beautiful; radiance class ships have a lot of glass that allows for natural light. due to her smaller size, the crew really feel like a family and are exceptional.

while she may not have the bells and whistles that some of the newer, bigger ships have, she is definitely worth trying if you are more of a low key cruiser. we had a wonderful time just sitting at the pool deck, playing pool in the aft of the ship, and people watching in the centrum.

tagging @Neesa as she was just on serenade last november 💚💚 for a more recent experience

you can catch up on her liveblog here too:

I fell head over heels for Serenade. It was my first smaller ship as we gravitated to the Oasis and Quantum classes. It had an old school feel, just a bit of a slower pace yet there was always something going on. Her public spaces were beautiful, the only tiny downside which I ignored was the cigarette smoke sometimes escaping the casino. I would sail her again and again. I would book traditional dining though it appeared there was always a long line for MTD but it was Thanksgiving week so that might have been the reason. You will love her!

Totally agree with everything noted by @asquared17 and @Neesa.  Serenade has a much calmer feeling than the newer, larger ships.  As long as you know what she has and does not have, you will have a wonderful cruise.  The way you can hear music rising through the Centrum and see fellow cruisers listening on 3 decks makes for a special experience. I also love the seating at the aft outside of the Windjammer so you can watch the wake while eating.

The Serenade (and all of the Radiance class) is great!  The ability to see out to the ocean on this ship is just awesome.  Yes, the entertainment is not as nice as Oasis class, and the activities are not as diverse as Quantum class, but for overall cruise experience, it is hard to beat ships like Serenade.  Just got off her last week...

I'm going on Serenade for the first time ever in July, and this thread has just made me even more hyped up! My family likes the more laid back pace, which is part of what led us to this ship. Y'all are making me yearn for July!

Also, are there any fun little things about Serenade that I should look for? I know sometimes there's some fun artwork in an odd place, so I'm just wondering if it's worth my time to look for these things. If there aren't any, I'd just be the crazy lady roaming around aimlessly.

Has anyone been on Serenade? I know it’s one of the older ships so I was just wanting info from people who have been on it.

We went on our years ago, it was a beautiful ship and quite large! I was thinking it might feel small, but no, not at all. Great ship! We’re actually taking the sister ship (Radiance) on a Panama Canal cruise next year and cannot wait.

There's a ship for everyone.  We were on Serenade back in '19.  It was our first time on that class of ship.  We had a great time.  The ship needed some TLC, but still provided plenty of fun.  The pool deck screen was not working and there was visible wear and tear in places.  Perhaps those have been dealt with in the 3.5 years since we were on her.  I missed having a Promenade.  But overall we enjoyed it.  Radiance class is not my first option going forward, would do it again for the right itinerary.  But any ship will do if it means getting away from the real world for a week.

This is a ship with a centrum, right? I haven’t seen one in so long, a few years. I agree it’s not like a promenade, but it’s grand.
