Rory Posted February 26, 2023 Report Share Posted February 26, 2023 Checking to see if anyone knows Royal's rollout plan for converting the Jazz on 4 spaces into non-smoking casino spaces like on Wonder? The only info confirmed is Harmony is starting their conversion today through March 12. I would guess they move to the next Oasis class ship on March 12-26? The first I read about this project was a post that Cory (CD on Allure) told the guest they were doing this and had hoped to complete all Oasis class ships by end of April. Like the Starlink deployment across the fleet we rely on the user community to report it. Even for the first ship to have work done in that area, that's all Royal said. Work is being performed. Was just on harmony, this would explain why jazz on 4 was never opened, a shame, such a unique concept of a jazz club. Too bad it is going away. Btw, did not think casino was that smokey. WAAAYTOOO Posted March 9, 2023 Report Share Posted March 9, 2023 Update from OA. There is no longer any reference to Jazz On 4 as a performance venue. The Jazz presentations are being advertised as being held in the Music Hall. While I have not confirmed directly with anyone “in the know”, I think it’s pretty clear that Jazz on 4 is no more. When I went by there today, the doors were closed and (presumably) locked. I will pop by next week and see if there is any construction/destruction going on. I spoke with the D Concierge (Norman…awesome Concierge) who confirmed that the Jazz club is totally closed and that the new non-smoking casino annex would begin operations on 3-12….which is next week ! Rory Posted March 9, 2023 Author Report Share Posted March 9, 2023 I checked a few sailings on the app schedule and Jazz is scheduled in Central Park, Music Hall and Royal Promenade throughout the week. So it appears they will maintain jazz onboard and have them play in various venues throughout the ship during each sailing! Would love to see some photos next week when they reopen. Thanks! He is being told construction will begin 3/12 and usually takes 2 weeks to complete the remodel. Two different reports from separate guests currently onboard. He said the construction crew is completing Harmony and will be onboard Oasis this Sunday to begin the process. The new casino venue should be open to guests on the 3/26 sailing. Adding 40+ new slots in the new venue. I bet nonsmoking gamblers will enjoy the new space and having Jazz playing in multiple venues around the ship should be nice as well. The smoke makes my asthma very bad. But I enjoy gambling. Do I need to stay off the ships because a few smokers make the casino space so unhealthy? Thanks. But so far only on Oasis class ships is there a non-smoking casino. All the rest of the fleet have a small section in a casino that is not nonsmoking but because part of it is, there is still a ton of smoke.
