We have already exceeded our cruise budget with excursions at the other ports and haven't booked anything for Roatan. What can we safely do there that's free or almost free? You can get a taxi, but I would make arrangements to have the driver pick you back up at a predetermined time. Roatan is a very poor island. I would personally go with a tour company. ChessE4 Posted February 23, 2023 Report Share Posted February 23, 2023 You don't want to walk around outside the secure port area, but you can catch a cab to a beach, as described on various YouTube videos. That is what I am planning to do the next time we go there. I believe you need to exit the port area to catch 3rd party excursions and ground transportation, but it is near the gate.
