JenAmazon
We have a western Mediterranean cruise in June, and there are shore excursions to Monaco from both Cannes and Nice (Villefranche). We want very much to place a few bets at the Casino there, and are packing appropriate attire to go in. If we do a Monaco hop-on-hop-off bus tour excursion, will there be enough time to gamble at Casino Monte Carlo, if it opens at 2pm? Would it be a better idea, if we want to spend some time in the Casino, to book a private ride into Monaco and back to the ship? Does anyone who has been on excursion at Cannes or Nice remember when you needed to be back on the ship? I realize that this is extremely ambitious for first-time cruisers to attempt, but any experience you can share related to this would be valued. Thanks in advance! bobroo
bobroo
I have thought of doing this very same thing! I would love to walk into Casino Monte Carlo wearing Brioni and order a very dry, shaken Martini. Now...the table minimums will dictate how long this charade goes on for; but it would be fun! ChessE4
Take note of the published dress code for the casinos -- that attire may not match what you'd wear for the other sight-seeing. JenAmazon
JenAmazon
Agree completely. For exactly that reason, we were probably going to devote the Cannes day or the Nice day to only the casino trip, and the other day to sight-seeing. It’s pretty neat that this itinerary seems to give us 2 chances to see the area. Not being well-versed in my options, though, I want to try to plan this opportunity carefully. Really appreciate the experience of this group.
