? what is sea pass card?  and what happens?  Do you need that to turn the lights on in the room like DCL?

SeaPass card is your cabin key and what you use on board at any bars or stores to make purchases.   You also use it to get on & off the ship at ports of call.

Some ships require a card to be placed into a slot to activate lights and air conditioning.   Basically it's the newer ships that have this feature.

There are cruise compasses on the drop down menu on the home page.

You do need to use your card to turn on the lights on the Anthem. There were about 1/3 if the doors in my deck that had something on their doors.

If you get a magnet too close to your seapass card it will mess up the magnetic strip on  the back that basically controls everything the card does.   If your card quits working just take it to guest services (front desk) and they will issue you another.   Relax and have a good time....remember your on vacation!

does this include the magnetic strips on bank cards? i had this issue with metro passes while in paris, put them in wallet next to bank card and it wiped metro pass, which pissed me off as even with reciept showing date we bought them we had to buy new ones

Yes, any magnetic stripe card is susceptible to this issue. That's the one nice thing about the new RFID cards used on Quantum class ships and Harmony/Symphony.  One less thing to worry about.

I will be going on my first cruise in March, I want to go a little crazy.  Thanks for the link!  My daughter does calligraphy, and it is our anniversary cruise.  I may have her make up something very unique.

i have magnets I got designed on etsy that I got printed at vista print.  Put them on my door for every cruise! Like others, I also use the magnet hooks in the room to hang my small purses, bags, etc. I also take some small magnets to hang the important papers and get them off the desk.

W a k again, si there a “formal” night in a 5 night cruise?  TIA?

There will be just one, on the first sea day (Day 2). Matt wrote an "Everything You Need to Know About Formal Night" article that nicely covers the permutations for each cruise length, along with covering a lot of other valuable basics.

Humm, so you only eat In the main dining room one night?  What is the difference  between the main dining room all the othe dining rooms?   We have a 5:30searit for dinner so do we just show up any di ing room (of course the ones that are included) and have dinner?  Any suggestions on the better/not so good dining room.  Are  real fast and lunch sit downs or buffets? Sorry for all these questions, things keep popping in my head ??

No, the main dining room is available for you each night of your cruise. During formal night, the majority of guests will dress in more formal attire (i.e. sport coats, cocktail dresses, etc). Non-formal nights are more casual.

You have the 5:30 seating so if you choose to dine in the main dining room, just show up a few minutes before 5:30 and you will be seated at your table (dining room & table number will be printed on your Seapass card). If you choose not to dine in the main dining room, you can enjoy dinner at one of the other free locations (i.e. Sorrento's, Windjammer Marketplace, SeaPlex Dog House, etc) or one of the locations that charge an additional fee (i.e. Izumi, Chops Grille, Johnny Rockets, etc). You only need to eat dinner at 5:30 if you choose to dine in the main dining room. For example, if you dine in the Windjammer, you can show up anytime during their dinner hours.

I suggest trying the different restaurants to see which one you like best. Each can offer a different atmosphere and selections of foods. When we cruise with our kids, we tend to eat dinner in the Windjammer because it offers us more flexibility and a bigger selection of foods. When we cruise without our kids, we like to eat in the main dining room so we can sit back and relax more. The main buffet on the ship is the Windjammer and it is open for breakfast, lunch & dinner. If you want something quicker, you can grab pizza at Sorrento's or a hot dog at SeaPlex Dog House.

Another thing to consider when choosing a dining area is whether you'd like some company at your table, or you want to keep it to just you and your family. Eating in the Windjammer almost always means not having any table-mates besides your family members.

The main dining room is available for breakfast every morning and has many of the same options as the Windjammer (including a mini-buffet area along with the menu-based offerings), and we liked going to the MDR every morning for breakfast because we could request a shared table and meet some new people each time, as well as avoid the crowds in the Windjammer. But it did mean we had to be comfortable with breakfast taking around 45 minutes to an hour, which meant getting up early enough on port days to avoid missing our excursions.

WOW, what a wealth of information on this blog!  Thank you every for your input and suggestions, I didn't realize dining would be this easy, I guess the hard part will be deciding where to eat. Any food favorites/non favorites?  Does the main dining room have made to order breakfast, like omlettes, pancakes etc? What I"m reading here is the Windjammer is the most popular?  .what time does the dinging rooms/buffets open for breakfast?  My hubby loves his ice cream, is there an ice cream bar to stand the he get some whenever he wants?  thank you everyone again!

Since I haven't had the pleasure of sailing on an Anthem class ship I m not sure how the dining room assignments work  If they work like all the other ships I've been on then check your sea pass card for deck # and table # and that should be your table for the rest of the cruise.  After eating lunch on the first day, go to the deck where you table assignment is and walk in and find your table.  It should be open and your allowed to do that.  If its a large table you do not have a particular seat,  its a first come first serve thing.   Once you find your table you do not need to be escorted to the table,  just walk directly to your table and have a seat.  Happy sailing!
