Drink package test

Going on our 4th (Jan) and 5th (Oct) cruises in 2023 and first since 2018.  We've never gotten anything beyond the soda package, but are buying the DBP for at least the next one then seeing if we think it's worth it for us before buying for the one after that.

Question is, do the drinks still show up on the stateroom account (but with a $0 charge obviously) to track consumption vs cost of the package?

Yes, but they will not show up on the final invoice provided on disembarkation day. You MIGHT be able to go to Guest Service and get a full invoice printed out (including the 0.00 cost items). I typically keep a running track on my phone and update it each morning.

No they don't give you an itemized list of transactions, just a  summary of charges and credits (like refundable OBC's).  You might inquire what data is presented on a copy of your folio.  If you look at your past cruises on the web it states "Folio available by request at
royalguestrelations@rccl.com
or call 800-256-6649.

"After 7 years, past folios
become unavailable."

We did something similar a few years ago by tracking drink orders on a note in my iPhone.  We didn't always remember to "log" the drink in real time (we were in vacation mode, after all), but would catch it up later against the drink "charges" for $0.00 showing up on our account.  That was convenient enough, and was from a time before the Royal App was as important as it is now, so you're probably more likely to have your device available to you at nearly all times.

We also tried to track the drinks we would have ordered without a package, and the drinks we ordered only because we had a package (e.g., a new drink to replace a half-melted one). That data point has been a very helpful benchmark for us when evaluating drink packages on subsequent sailings - i.e., how much did we order with the package vs. how much would we have really ordered without it?  Those were two very different numbers for us.

You might want to purchase the drink package while it is on black friday sale!  You can always cancel it after your first cruise if you feel it isn't worth it for you.

You're doing this the hard way. You can easily view each "purchase" on the app under your Onboard Account.

Trying to remember your daily drink count as the continues to rise is bound to lead to mistakes! 😆

I thought the new signing rule was only for the daily drink vouchers that you get from status, not when you use the Deluxe Beverage Package.

This is my understanding as well. However, just got back from a 3-night Liberty cruise yesterday and we were never asked to sign for our drinks except if we exceeded our 4-drink voucher limit. That being, said we did run into a couple of issues with this as it seems not all staff are up to date with the voucher system. For instance, on night one, we knew we wouldn't be hitting our 4-drink limit, so we asked the waiter to apply our glasses of wine against the vouchers but instead found a 50% charge for the wine. Went to guest services to have that charge removed. Then on our last night, we knew we would be having our 4 drinks, so we asked that they apply the 50% wine coupons against the wine we had at dinner. When we ordered drinks later in the casino, the bar waiter brings us a statement for our drink charge. We should have had our final vouchers to use against them, but I wasn't going to argue at the table and as it was the last night of the cruise the guest services lineup just wasn't worth the wait.
