Pattycruise
We were told today, just prior to sail away, that our itinerary will change from Orlando, Nassau, CoCocay to just 2 days in Labadee. This is due to weather. still awaiting on official word on compensation, if any interesting that there is no US port. I thought they needed a US port. I think it is the other way around, they have to have a non-US port. That is why the Alaskan cruise always stop in Victoria. But I could be wrong. FireFishII
Just found this on-line: In general terms, foreign-flagged cruise ships are required to visit at least one non-U.S. port so that they cannot benefit from sailing exclusively within U.S. waters while simultaneously skirting U.S. tax and labor laws. asquared17
@Pattycruise i'm so sorry to hear this!! my parents are currently cruising in the caribbean and have mentioned the weather is... not great. they had to scrap their stops to st. barts and montserrat entirely. hoping it clears up sooner than later for you all! smokeybandit
I'd say that's a solid alternative seeing as the storm you're avoiding may have 25'+ waves Pattycruise, PPPJJ-GCVAB, FloatyBoaty and 5 others 3 1

Al Miller
Selfishly, I am excited to go to Labadee on a cruise from NJ. It seems to be a rare happening since the restart. they say we will get equivalent of 1 day of cruise fare in refundable OBC. So not bad. I feel for those that are missing out on perfect day if that was thier main reason for booking. Cez and Shari3 1

It’s been years since I’ve been to Labadee, so I don’t mind. re:reimbursement, I’m on a casino comp, so no $back for the inconvenience, maybe they’ll be credit for port fees Al Miller and Adriana
Al Miller
They can't leave well enough alone. Now day two at Labadee has been replaced with Porta Plata. Which is mostly no skin of my nose, but some folks at lunch were lamenting the loss\refund of yet more excursions they had already booked. I know there are probably extenuating circumstances we are not aware of, but jeez. I was initially impressed that they had a plan so quickly in place and everyone had so much time to plan. They've undone a bit of that here IMO. Adriana

smokeybandit
Labadee and Porta Plata is actually about as fantastic of a substitution as you could get, especially knowing it's a NY cruise Cez, Al Miller, Shari3 and 1 other

WAAAYTOOO
The “eye” just passed by us (slightly to the north and east). It’s been a pretty lame hurricane, as they go. Very little wind and/or rain. Trust me, I’m not complaining ! Good luck to those yet in its path or affected by its wrath (I’m a poet and don’t know it).
