cruise temp

Just got off the Allure and had a great time.  I was on the Symphony last September and also had a great time.  Has anyone noticed in the past few years that it seems like they don't keep the ships as cool as they use to?  Even in my cabin I use to keep it all the way down and wake up feeling nice and snug under the covers and comforter. The past two cruises all I slept with the sheet and still felt warm every night.  Even in public area's that use to be cold in some spots, like the theater aren't kept cool like they use to.  I don't know if it has to do with their AC filter system pulling out more of the germs out of the air to make it cleaner or what it is.  Interested to hear your thoughts.

By chance, did you turn off the “master switch” by the door?  We were on the Oasis back in February and my in-laws were complaining about the A/C not working the first two nights (it did during the day) and I showed them how to not use the Master switch at night and the A/C magically worked the rest of the cruise 🙂

Nope never touched it.  But like I said the rest of the ship felt warm.  The only spot that was super cold was the back part of the Windjammer and I think they would of frowned apon me sleeping there.  I even brought a little portable fan and it didn't help much

Did you contact maintenance for your cabin.  We had to complain about a super stuffy cabin and it turns out the filter needed leaning-go figure.

I just disembarked from Adventure and my cabin was freezing, the casino was cold most nights and some other venues were chilly.  I like the cold  for me to say it was cold normal folks must have been super cold.

I will try that next time when I go on the Wonder in April.  I mean my room wasn't warm, but wasn't cold how I like it.  I had a CP balcony room, but didn't go out there much and kept the blinds closed for the most part but never got as cold as I remember

The A/C units are individual but the coolant is centralized and distributed.  The chillers that provide the coolant are the highest source of energy draw for the hotel side of the ship operations.

When ships are in port including turn around days more and more governments are demanding they reduce emissions so it's common for the ship to reduce the chiller so they can operate the ship in port with the least amount of engines running.  It's common on boarding day for cabins to feel warm especially if your cabin is on the sunny side of the ship that day.  Once the ship leaves port and reaches international water they can crank on the chiller to its normal operating level and cabins can be cooled better.

I was also on the Allure last week and found same issues as @dustfsu.  My cabin often felt very warm and yes I always checked the balcony door as well as anything else that might fluctuate the cooling.  The air flow coming from above the closet doors was always working but the temp just didn’t freeze me out the way it did on the Adventure in August!  Also the corridors and even stairwells were quite warm throughout the cruise.  Yes we were in the Southern Caribbean and Yes the humidity was over 70% the entire 8 day/night cruise so could be a factor.
Just pointing out that I do not think it was anything @dustfsu or I did wrong.  It was the control of the ship’s cooling system for sure.

You should come on Allure of the Seas this week. It's like a freezer here (and I love it).

I wish I was on there again with this hurricane coming right at my house in Pinellas county.  Also part that stinks because I work for the government I have to stay back to work a shelter. My wife and kids left with my MOL to GA and then possibly NC to see family and wait it out.  Hopefully nothing too bad happens here, but not looking good at the moment.  Enjoy the cruise, Allure was great last week

Yea I did all the right things for sure.  I was on deck 12, but went in all parts of the ship and never found a cold spot except the back part of the Windjammer.  Hopefully my inside cabin on the Wonder in April will be colder for my liking.
