Allure of the Seas Activities Limited?

So my first cruise with Royal is this November, on Allure OTS. I personally do not want to do things like the FlowRider, Zipline,  going to the pool, and other activities falling into the same category. I also do not drink, and neither does my wife, so spending time at bars is not  appealing for us. My kids are the type who want to do things like the FlowRider and such, however I don't. So my question is, what activities can I do by myself, with my wife, and with all my family to have a good time?

You have listed what you don’t like, what are the things you do like to do on a cruise?  There are other activités, trivia, dancing, casino games, workouts/exercise classes, spa treatments or others.  Or you can just relax somewhere with a book. Some people like the action, some like the relaxing, neither is wrong but it is hard to guide you towards activities that might interest you if we don’t know your preferences.

With the exception of going in the Schooner Bar for trivia and music, we don’t do those things either.  We are 100% non-drinkers, but we’ve never felt out of place when participating in trivia or listening to live music while in the Schooner Bar (or any other venue).  We not gamblers, so we don’t go in the casino

We’ve never been on Allure, but here is a partial list of things we’ve enjoyed doing on the ships we’ve been on (from Vision up to Oasis but no Quantum Class):

  • People watching
  • Playing Scrabble on the Promenade, in the Centrum, or in the Solarium
  • Playing cards as above
  • Watching various game shows around the ship
  • Watching Karaoke
  • Reading in the Solarium
  • Reading outside on deck
  • Watching the ocean go by
  • Napping
  • Meeting people and talking…sometimes for hours
  • Eating and trying things we’d never have at home
  • Wandering around ports areas by ourselves (rather than on an excursion)
  • Playing ping pong
  • Playing mini-golf
  • Watching movies (on ships that have pool deck screen)
  • Watching pool deck activities (ie. Belly Flop contest, etc)
  • Silent Disco (Honestly, I never expected to enjoy this, but I do)
  • Going up to the Viking Crown Lounge and watching….everything (On ships that have one)
  • Watching sunrises and sunsets from up on deck
  • Early morning coffee together
  • Booking another cruise at NextCruise

Eating is a popular past time on cruises! There are lots to do other than what you don't want to do. The shows are always good on Royal Caribbean ships. There is usually a meet the captain and ask questions time that I always attend. Just strolling around the ship is a fun and trying to find new places and parts of the ship. Allure is huge and you will always be discovering new parts of the ship.

My wife and I like to dance.  We find it easier on a cruise ship, whether to live music or the taped ballroom dancing music.  And there is line dancing if you are by yourself.  But I think the list by teddy is great.

Many thing have been mentioned already.

Sometimes there's Live Music in the Central Park. I always enjoy this part of the ship, with or without music. It's a surprisingly calm spot. Many spots have live music though, if you enjoy this kind of activity. We surely do.

The Pub is a nice spot to have a drink and watch the world go by.

Pools are not your thing, but still check the Solarium out. More quiet, lots of space and a nice view. It's a very relaxing spot this. Or you always can do a bit of shopping in one of the many shops on the Promenade.

Like others said: Food/Eating is a big point about cruising. On Sea days Izumi is still not very busy and has a nice and quiet atmosphere.

I am generally a more reserved person, so dancing is definitely not an option. If I was cruising solo, or with my wife only. Then majority if our day would be spent around the ship reading or just relaxing, because that is what we like to do. However, since we are going as a family, I want to see what activities we can do as family, my kids could enjoy, and that don't have to much action.

Go to the RC page for Allure and check the Things to Do section ahead of time to see what activities your kids would like vs. as a family or as a couple.

Then when you get onboard, Check the cruise compasses for daily activities and highlight what you and your family would be interested in.

Sometimes they have scavenger hunts you can do as a family.

I think you and your wife will enjoy going to the FlowRider and sitting in the observation area while your kids are trying it out.  It's fun to watch people trying to do it and cheering them on.  You can take the video of the kids while they're on.  Same thing for the Zip line.  You will be able to watch the kids come across.  Maybe you'll want to do the mini golf as a family.  My husband and I took our3 teen boys on their first cruise this summer.  We enjoyed both activities together and activities apart from one another.  We always ate dinner in MDR as a family, but after that our boys would go to the gym.  My husband and I would go to the production shows and game shows.  Sometimes the teens would join us, sometimes they didn't.  We did all excursions together as a family.  All 5 of us enjoyed our cruise, sometimes doing things together and sometimes apart.
