Best deck for oceanview to not feel waves on the Oasis class?

I've never done a oceanview or interior. What are the best decks + locations for Oasis class to not feel the movement of the ship/waves?

I've only done balconies on Oasis, decks 6-12. Only once I have felt the motion of the boat and that's when I did Boardwalk which was located at the back of the ship, and I said never again lol.

P.S. This question is for a family member btw who are cruising for the first time and doesn't like motion at all. I am just presenting them all options for each cabin.

Imho opinion oceanview cabins feel all the motion. I believe they are only on decks 2 and 3. Interiors are everywhere.  People say midship is your best bet for less motion. I only sail aft, if the ship is speeding or winds are high, regardless of where you are, you will feel it.

Yeah I just realized, I think if they did an oceanview then the best bet would be deck 3 since they're midship. I just don't want them to feel force to get a balcony, so making sure they have all the information.

On Oasis in May the casino, located deck 4  mid ship, was "rolling" in the waves about 1am....you could not stand still.  I had a balcony cabin Deck 9 and did not feel it as bad.  I've done multiple sailings on that same route and that was "the worst" I'd felt it.   I have booked the Boardwalk balcony-closer the elevator area, not all the way aft and never had an issue but there was no rocking on those sailings.  I've also done sailings where the waves were high (hurricane season) and my Bonine(Dramamine) did not help me.
You will know it is going to be "bad"-or anticipated to be "bad" when they put the "barf bags" out.  On my sailing they were located in a sack attached to the stair banisters.  Once I saw those I took one AND premedicated.  They say to medicate before you feel sick.

As a person who can be prone to motion sickness I will say that regardless of my cabin location, or location while walking on the ship if the ship is rocking I will feel it.  I carry the Bonine (Dramamine) with me.  While some say to take it ahead of time, if I feel the first rock I take a tablet.  There are many other remedies-ginger, green apples, sea bands for the wrist, scolpamine patch (Rx) that you can consider as well.  I also usually avoid looking over the side of the ship-as seeing the water go by used to make me feel ill.   It's funny how you can be "so seasick" for a while but the minute the ship gets to calm water it immediately goeas away.
Post cruise that person may be susceptible to feeling the ship rock while on land.  Taking Bonine (Dramamine) might help to deal with that.

My suggestion would be to not book ocean view since the cabins are located very low to the waterline and if waves occur just looking out the window can be tough!  If balcony is not an option then book an interior on maybe deck 7 or 8 or higher and close to midship.  Personally the higher up my room is the better for me and I do always book a balcony.  When I was on Brilliance in January 4 1/2yrs ago I took a walk through deck 4 which had ocean view rooms and seeing the water level and wave action completely made my mind up to never book a low deck and always have fresh air available by way of balcony!

Then again, if you book one of the highest decks and the weather gets choppy, that's where you're most likely to get sea sick. There was one very bad day on Jewel of the Seas a few years ago where the spa on (I *think*) Deck 14 experienced so many people getting seasick that they called for cleanup like five times that day. I was one of them. And one of the spa employees confessed she was another. A couple employees agreed it was the worst weather they'd experienced in their years at sea. And the cleaning crew said they'd been up and down the ship nonstop all day. 😬 They were super-professional though and had cleanup down to an absolute science.

This was right before the pandemic so there was no COVID risk; just a bunch of seasick people.

some additional things to consider include the time of year you are sailing - during hurricane season or not - the port from which you sail from, and the overall itinerary.

we typically sail at the tail end of november/early december and february. weather is crappy back home in NJ but holds pretty steady in the caribbean.

we have found western caribbean to be the calmest by far, even on oasis class ships - and the less days you are at sea, the smaller your risk of 'feeling sick.' eastern is okay too but you do risk more exposure to different currents (at least that is how we have found it/how it works in my mind 😅 i could be totally wrong)

lastly: we don't sail out of bayonne as the atlantic is WAY too choppy for us.

your mileage may vary with this, but if they are very prone to movement/sickness, a florida or equally warm weather port may also be a far better start to your trip.

We sailed Oasis for the first time in August and I had to say that was the last amount of motion I've ever had on a cruise and we've been on 9 so far. When I say the least amount, I mean absolutely nothing. Honestly I don't think I felt a thing the entire week. Maybe just good luck with the weather and ocean but that's what our experience was.
