Incorrect point accumulation at casino

Not saying their calculations are set properly, and my casino days are behind me, but it should have to do with house edge and amount wagered per hour. Playing $25 hands at BJ for hours sounds like a lot, but even with crappy rules, the house edge isn't very large compared to say slots and at a crowded table, you're only getting to play X hands per hour. With slots, you are constantly churning your money through the machine even if it's a relatively small amount per spin.

Not to mention the slot machine can see exactly how much $ you are betting every bet. Table games rely on the dealer to keep inputting you're betting.

Also true. Speaking for casinos in general, one common "trick" back in the day when comps/rewards were given without super specific calculations in a computer was to bet larger than normal when you sat down and the pit boss would typically record your first bet. A $25 bettor might bet $50 or $75, for example, in the hopes of being tracked at that level, then go back to his actual $25.

That's a great tip!

In short, table games don't accrue nearly as many points as slots.

It's confounded me just as much, but it is what it is.

The points assignment is up to the pit boss watching your play.  They have numerous people and tables to keep track off so it really becomes a subjective thing.  I played craps for about 2 hours one night and asked the casino host my point value the next day.  He spent several minutes at a computer screen before he gave me a value, 91.  Two nights later I played for about 4 hours with larger bets and now it shows I have 118 points.  A gained a whopping 27 points the 2nd night.  Very subjective.  If you are gaming to get points, slot machines are the way to go but, IMHO, you will likely lose more.

Absolutely true.  If you are trying to get to [at least] Prime, play the slots until you get there.  Both Dan and I HATE slots but when we were on the ship the first time to try and accumulate points, we sucked it up and played slots.  It is the fastest and most "honest" way to get there.  Tables games ratings is completely arbitrary and depends upon the pit bosses' observations.  It is an awful system for rating....but the slots are very quantitative and are the fastest and surest way to get to your goal.  BTW, we haven't touched a slot machine since we originally qualified which was many MANY years ago.

I sailed Oasis recently and asked the casino hosts about the 3 people in our party casino points.  I was trying to calculate # of hours played x $amount played  to get to points earned.  Later that day I was not playing at a nearly full table, we were down to 2 at the table which got me thinking….would I be better off only playing at full tables? (Extending play time with 7 players per round to have dealt and turned up).  I went to the casino host with my inquiry and was told the little circle of light in the 3 card poker bets calculated #of hands played.  So it’s time at table, # of hands played, and $ per hand to calculate points.   That’s what I was told.   Of course having the pit boss record the bets you are making helps.   Who knows what other wizardry goes into the calculations.

Seems you mostly only get credit for your buy in at tables. We played for a couple of hours and the only time we saw the pit boss was to verify a big win. If they were keeping track of bets or anything then I don't know how they did it. He was never there.

You could ask the casino host for your session details.  This was something I recently did and I don’t know why I’ve never done it.
how long do you have me playing? And how much per hand?  I’ve not tried asking “how many hands?”….  If their answer doesn’t match ask them to review footage.  I Remember the system wasn’t working on Oasis for months and  the dealer had a tablet to input the players -well they knocked of sine guy who had been sitting there for over 6 hours-I know because he was there well before I sat down.  IDK if he ever fixed that with the host.

I play craps only, I don't like other games and the best I received was a certificate for $ 100.00 off our next cruise.  My SO, only plays slots and they have been comped a free cruise on a few different times.  It really drives me crazy, I spend way, WAY more then they do and yet other than a blast I really have nothing to show.

I did ask, and slots have the best "comps" in the house on most ships.

The table point calculations are definitely mysterious. I only play Blackjack. On Indy a month ago, I got about 1000 points across three nights, betting pretty conservatively. I just got off Mariner, where over eight nights (including three sea days where I spent a LOT of time gambling) and similar bets I racked up about 1800 points (which is a lot, but not proportionate). I was told I gained about 75 points in 45 minutes of Blackjack with an average bet of about $30.

I'm quite excited to have gotten to Prime on this trip (so it should be good through March 31, 2024, to my understanding). I'm guessing it will be easier to maintain that status going forward.
