FLTraveler
Hi everyone, Hypothetical question--if you're sailing with a friend and one has free drinks in the casino and/or Diamond status, but the other does not, how does that affect the requirement for both parties to buy the drink package (if the other friend wants it). Thanks!
Matt
No effect at all in that scenario.

wordell1
A lot of Diamond members still get the drink package! I'm not one of them, but I'm also not judging! RCIfan1912, FLTraveler and WAAAYTOOO 2
Fairlynew
I am diamond status and have the drink package. I am traveling with friends, who will be in a separate cabin, who will not have the drink package. Can I share my diamond drinks with them? Obviously, I know that I cannot share the DBP drinks. Yeah all four of them. Nothing physically prevents you from sharing your DP drinks, just need to be discrete. Besides, who's going to know if the drinks you share are diamond drinks or drink package drinks? They aren't labeled.

They aren't labeled. The servers know if you state Diamond drink when you make your purchase you can freely hand over the drink to your friend/anyone. You are not permitted to pass along your deluxe drink package drinks. The servers can say something and your deluxe drink package can be cancelled. Gadget Hackwrench
On my last cruise which ended this morning for Enchantment of the Seas, we had a drunk guest on our first night in the dining room who loudly proclaimed that he would buy drinks for everyone in the room even after being reminded of the drink package rules. We never saw him again after that night.... SpicyCherry, CrimsonCruiser and Pattycruise 1

Thanks! I had read elsewhere that a Diamond plus member who was prime in the casino was able to get out of purchasing the deluxe beverage package by speaking with resolutions. I’ve no idea if that’s common or a “lucky day” FLTraveler

They allowed it! Very pleasant surprise. I'm not sure if it was just a lucky fluke--I know the agent I spoke to had to talk to some other folks to get the go ahead. Xaa
That's normal for anyone if you call. FLTraveler
Templecruiser
My wife and I are diamond members. We have a 8 day on Harmony in dec coming. I got the drink package and got her the refreshment. If she goes past her 4 drinks, I will give her my vouchers.

If so, I think this would be the best option for us as well. We're also on Harmony but in January.
Brando95
If one person in the cabin gets the drink package, the other person has to as well. You can call and pinkie swear the other person isn't a drinker and get the ok to purchase the refreshment package. The requirement is in place to prevent 2 people from using one drink package. Of course, how strict they hold you to that probably varies from ship to ship and from bartender to bartender

I said I wanted the drink package, so I didn't have to worry about it, but for my wife, the vouchers are enough for her. So, they had no problem selling one of each to us. This is the first successful case I've heard of using anything other than medical or religious reasons. I wonder if they're just blanket accepting most reasons now if you call in, or if Diamond status has always been a valid reason as well. Xaa
It was just call and ask for us. No reason asked. We just said one wanted it and the other didn't and they said the other needs to buy Refreshment Package.
Ampurp85
It has been a while since they required excuses to forego everyone in the cabin getting the DX. I know when you buy onboard, they have no issue doing 1 DX and 1 refreshment. I think because the way they see it, if the other person wants alcohol, they will be buying drinks a la carte and that's more profit. AlohaLivin
I am so surprised that a post would be removed that suggested that it is unethical to share drinks with others from an unlimited drink packages. I thought that was just a basic truth. If I were going to find a problem with a post, I think I would take down the post suggesting that breaking the rules is acceptable behavior rather than the post stating that it isn’t. But hey, that’s just me.
