deep1
Just read on the blog that FCC is going to now become OBC???? We were told recently that FCC would have no expiry which I was delighted at. Sole reason I dn't just book a lot of trips I really didn't want to shove in a small time frame... I have several thousands in FCC. Some in other peoples names but permission to use after long drawn out battles.... If I spend 300 on board thats is unusually high. Usually closer to $100. I had great plans to use the fcc for fares on upcoming cruises. Does anyone know if older FCC is part of this or if they were protected as agreed upon??? KristiZ
It appears only the "extra" amount over and above your cruise fare will be turned into OBC. Since you likely have multiple different FCC certificates, you just apply the amount you need to cover the cruise and keep the rest for later. A couple of the ones I have would more than cover whole fares for what I intended which was quick getaways ... Oh well... Just need to book less but longer getaways... KristiZ
Then the question will be if the converted OBC will be refundable. I'm guessing it will be, but that's just a guess.
deep1
Not sure on that... If it is i see a few ways to get my money out but I was enjoying having a cruise only slush fund with funds set away for just that... Again. Oh well. KJones
@deep1Well, you could cash out the leftover OBC at the casino and start a new bank account specifically for the cruise slush fund. Plus *in theory* you could be earning interest on that account too Qeyton Dude

Go to use it for say an ABC cruise and instead I have a new refrigerator... That FCC pile can't be penetrated for "stuff". Some of the FCC was in GF's daughter's name and it was a very long hard fought battle that made it available to actually use for cruising without her. (It was paid for when she was a minor). If it were "cash" I could see drama about turning it into a ski trip for her and her friends.
Pattycruise
Don’t prepay gratuities, that’s one way to use that OBC deep1
PJK
Am I to understand that if I used a FCC to book a cruise already but not yet taken - any leftover amount from that resulting FCC will now automatically be applied as an OBC for that cruise and not be re-issued after the completion of the cruise ? If so, I'm assuming we shall eventually receive a communication informing us of such.

I was having some really complicated issues with FCC that had never ben communicated to us except perhaps somewhere in those multipage disclaimers (no email type ) I spent numerous days on the phone trying to understand and fix. It seems they, themselves often gave me differing answers. Here on this site I have had a better time being educated and had tricky language translation than I have had from RCl themselves... So if you've already booked a cruise with your FCC, the remaining amount should be reissued as another FCC following the old rules.
