She Sails Away Posted August 20, 2022 Report Share Posted August 20, 2022 Question: I’m looking at a solo cruise next year. If I book as a solo, I am charged $700 more than if I book as a couple. Theoretically, (I am NOT doing this, just genuinely curious,) if I booked my husband with me, saved the $700, and then showed up for the cruise without him….what would happen? By adding him you lose out on your double points as a solo sailer (triple points if solo in a suite). If you are trying to move the loyalty levels that would have meaning to you, if you don't care about earning points it means nothing. twangster Posted August 20, 2022 Report Share Posted August 20, 2022 Is the cheaper fare for two guests a GTY booking? Often GTY bookings are not available for solo guests. Quite common actually. You can try calling to see if they will let you book a GTY as a solo. Sometimes they won't though, they are really trying to get more people on board to spend more money on board. Every night from 1130 to 1230 they apparently crashed machines into each other repeatedly as part of the clean up process. The room was a choose-your-own balcony. I actually have already booked my room-I was honest and just chose an interior to save the money, but wondered if booking for two would be a work-around if you wanted. I’d suggest moving to a good travel agent. They are skilled in these types of things and can ensure you’re getting the best price for your needs. I’d highly recommend MEI Travel (this blogs sponsor). On the main page there’s a box to fill out and they will assign you an agent. Be quick,you only have a short window to make the move (maybe 30 days?) good luck.
