twangster
Not uncommon. Has been happening for years. Great to see HAL assisting NCL in this case. Swar
Swar
Sucks! Skagway is a decent place to see at least once.
JennaRCB
Bummer! I hope my cruise can stop there later this month; I loved Skagway! Swar
Sea Squirrel
We sail Ovation next week. For anyone that is concerned about an upcoming sailing, we verified with RC that we will still be stopping at Skagaway. We’d had read somewhere that it could be cancelled but once again, RC is ahead of the game. Great news! ihaoan, WAAAYTOOO and Swar 2
Done
8/7/2022 According to Cruisehive.com the dock at Skagway has been closed for the remainder of the 2022 season: Another rockslide adjacent to the popular White Pass Railroad Dock in Skagway, Alaska, has caused damage and led to the full closure of the dock, which is expected to remain closed for the rest of the 2022 sailing season. This is the third rockslide in recent weeks, and officials are concerned about the possibility of more – and more severe – rockslides to come. Some ships are still able to visit the charming community by utilizing other docks or arranging to tender passengers from an anchored position without using the at-risk dock. ihaoan
our original itinerary scheduled Ovation to dock there on 8/22, and the app still shows that to be planned it appears that RCCL may still be using their scheduled pier, the RRA, which is south of the affected pier and not closed but from which passengers must be tendered to the small boat harbor so that they don't transit the closed pier any confirmation from recent cruisers of the past 2 weeks? on 8/11, this statement was made on a travel website: "Royal Caribbean said its Skagway itineraries will operate as scheduled. " https://www.travelweekly.com/Cruise-Travel/Princess-tweaks-more-Alaska-cruises-Skagway-dock-closure does anyone have definitive information on Ovation's status there? I am on Discovery Princess in September, most of their sailings are going elsewhere now, but mine was confirmed still staying in Skagway and using tenders. Quantum was originally due in that day as well, but dropped the Skagway call. It looks like one larger ship like those can go in to skagway at the southern pier and tendered. Sea Squirrel
We are in Skagaway today on Ovation. The pier is fine but closed to passengers. We are docked at the pier but still tendering around the affected area for safety. foxrunner and ihaoan
