The ship is booked solid and I am being told I have To switch cruises and or ships and travel at a different time, this is the worst Cruise experience ever. I Now have to cross my fingers and call everyday and hope someone cancels their cruise so that I can go. they want even refund me my money, all they will do is waive the 100 to switch my cruises but they are all booked up until 2024. this is the worst crap ever.  Can someone please help a disabled Vet out

Welcome to the board.

This is a fan site; all we can do is offer advice.

I don't know how your room situation happened, or what exactly needs to occur. Without knowing the ship, type of room and sailing dates, there is no real way to offer you the best advice.  If the sailing is close-in you might be out of luck. I find it hard to believe they are booked up until 2024, so call back again. Different reps will have different answers.

Dear Veteran, thank you so much for serving I feel heartfelt appreciation for our vets ❤️

We are a fan site with much cruising experience some here are BETTER than RC customer service.

I know I book specific cabins for my personal needs and I as well don't sail if my cabin isn't what I need for my sailing. That being said what are your criteria without getting to personal. Does it have to be in a certain area of the ship, mid ship, aft or forward for instance? On a certain deck due to the perceived confinement of some cabins? Do you prefer an accessible due to certain abilities?

Please minimally we need to know what would make this work for you. Also, what ship or ship class do you prefer? What itinerary? What ports? How many days? Sailings are not sold out until 2024 albeit the original ship may be booked at capacity; so just give us something more to work with and we will help you get there.

We will help you, it's just your original post had so much frustration, I get it. If you give us more we will do our best to help you experience a most comfortable sailing. Standing by, sir please come back and provide more details.

I'm sure the cabin booked was wrong due to a perception error, I'm confident enough a Royal rep wouldn't book you in something you didn't want. Let's do this together.

Just a thought - a lot of people will come to a board first with a need or a problem. They might first come with a genuine issue and then stay on to become a wonderful part of the community.  But when they post people so often scorn them, ridicule them, or just plain blow them out of the water. I see this on all the travel boards and it is at best unattractive. The main reason that people are “one and done” is more about the response that they get than about the intent of the OP. I wouldn’t return either in their shoes. Thankfully in this thread there was less of the attack and more thoughtful, helpful responses 😊

While I agree with you, we have seen a lot of posts recently that all sound very similar in writing style and contain details that make little sense.  This is unfortunately common on message boards such as this one.

I’m 62 and I’ve been on the Internet since my first Apple IIe in my early 20’s where I harassed 15 yo old sysops on ascii based text “boards” 😂😂 so believe me I understand there are trolls. But as a Clinical Psychologist I’m talking about human behavior here and in my view the nasty reactions are far more negative and annoying that the people who post about a problem (even if done with inarticulately or with frustration). A few are fake perhaps, but some aren’t (and no troll cares about derision so all that snarkiness thrown at them is wasted anyway).

I'm wondering what does your original cruise documents say?  When is your set sail date?

Your stateroom or category of stateroom if you were booked into a suite guarantee would be on your original cruise documents.

What ship or class of ship were you booked on where they are now sold out until 2024?

OK I need to give more Information and all. So When I booked the Cruise. we know we wanted a Suite. We wanted the cheapest suite we can get with Sky Level Access. We were told we Needed a Golden Junior Suite. The only thing that Mattered to us was getting Sky Level Access, So Our rep at Royal said I have you a Suite with here that is Golden Junior Suite with Sky Level. All was good. Well when we went to pay for all of our Extra and shows and  off ship events. We somehow started Showing a regular Junior Suite not a Golden Junior Suite. They are showing all suites  are booked All the middle class suites. are booked up until 2024. I was told to come try Royal leave Princess for Royal. Princess has never done this to me, I have PTSD I need the  special arrangements that we agreed to on the booking of the Golden Junior Suite.  The one Rep thinks that the rep when he booked it thought this was a golden Junior suite and not a regular Junior Suite. I can care less what the rep thought the whole reason we booked was we wanted the Sky Class.   We had a travel Agent that had us a trip planned we were going to pay a good bit more but we was also getting 325.00 each for onboard Credits and 500.00 each for excursion credits. so our rep. when we called Royal to see what deals they had, the rep sold us on a suite because of Sky level plus he saved us some cash but really it wasn't because we were given up a lot of vouchers. But the whole reason we booked with Royal was because of Sky Level. Oh we was supposed to get some onboard credits too which has now disappeared. but that's not a big deal compared to the Sky Level when you book a cruise for one reason and one reason only then they tell you the only way to get it is to wait a year or pay 15k more just give me my money back, Ill go to Princess they already told me they would give me 1500.00 in casino credits  to come back to them, (I think they just want me back in the Casino really). I have never been treated this bad by any company.

Hello thank you, I have never Cruised Royal before, I am a Princess guy, I ran the F&B for Princess for two years. I was talked into Royal. I don't care about rooms that much. To me its a class thing. I have worked very Hard my young years to get where I am today. I today Own multiple Businesses and corporations. I for my hard work like to be treated with a certain level of class. when I booked this sailing I asked for and told the booking rep, the only thing I wanted was a balcony and Sky Level Class.  I also needed A Casino and a Poker room. The Rep that booked the room made a mistake on the type of room he thought it was a certain suite when it was a different type of suite. It was a standard Junior Suite instead of an Golden Suite. I asked him when I saw it on the receipt he said didn't matter all junior suites say junior suites doesn't matter if its a Golden or a standard.

Matt's description of the private enclave on Spectrum sticks in my craw a little bit. It makes Royal Caribbean look like Cunard to me.

Have you ever sailed Cunard?  I'd actually compare the direction that Spectrum (and Wonder) took as closer to NCL Haven or MSC Yacht Club then Cunard.  Cunard areas for their "Grill Categories" match up more closely to what is on offer by RCL on their older Oasis/Quantum class vessels.  1) suite restaurant 2) suite lounge 3) small area of reserved deck chairs, spread out in different areas of the ship.  Not the "ship within a ship" concept.

Everyone likes to talk about this "class system" on Cunard, but I'd say that it's not really any different than what RCL offers these days.  Even Carnival's newer ships have various "special areas" for different cabin categories (e.g. Havana cabins).  Cunard probably has one of the least impactful "class systems" afloat these days.  You don't see suite guests getting ushered in front of you in line while waiting for various ship activities, as I've experienced on RCL with the bumper cars or north star.

We really need to know your preferred ship, if you desire Sky class benefits you are sure to get them on Quantum and Oasis class ships Grand Suite and up. I personally am unfamiliar with the golden junior suite you mention. I do apologize I couldn't be more help.

"Golden" anything is unique to Spectrum.  The Asian market places more significance on the concept of "gold" as a precious metal and symbol in the culture.  Many (but not all) JS on Spectrum are "Silver" suites.  Silver being less than Gold in the Asian culture.

On Spectrum there are "Silver Junior Suites" and "Golden Junior Suites".  There are also "Golden Balcony" cabins.

The Golden area is separate and has a door with card reader restricted access.  This concept doesn't map to any other Royal Caribbean ship.

On Spectrum the concept of Sky class doesn't map well.  Equally important Spectrum is not sailing from its normal home port right now, it is now based in Singapore.  The Royal Suites program was never fully mapped into China where the terms Golden Suites and Silver Suites was used.  Now that Spectrum is based in Singapore it is causing some confusion with the Royal Suites program offered on other Quantum class ships from Singapore.

What did your original cruise documents show that were emailed to you?  Did you make the booking here in the United States, Europe, South America, Australia, or Asia? If you made the booking here in the States perhaps the person didn't understand or even know about Golden Junior Suites.

I understand you requested a golden junior suite but is that what they actually booked you into?  Were you actually downgraded or was the mistake made when you booked and the representative booked you into a regular junior suite instead of a golden junior suite?

Royal does have a lot of representatives and some don't know aspect of Royal and that is no excuse representatives should know everything about the line they work for. But I wonder if the mistake was made at actual booking where the representative didn't know about Golden Junior Suites and mistakenly booked you into a regular junior suite and did actually charge you for the golden access and somehow it was overlooked by both parties when the cruise documents were emailed out to you.

The reason I'm asking what your original cruise documents stated is because the junior suite is the same size no matter the deck but the location of the Golden Suites is different and that may be the reason they couldn't help you when you called back is because all the Golden junior suites were sold out.

I have. There was indeed a ship-within-a-ship for the higher class passengers. This was on the Queen Mary 2 when she was first starting to do crossings, back in the early oughts. Maybe they have changed since then.

I certainly wouldn't describe QM2 as having ship-within-a-ship from an architectural perspective.  Perhaps having suite restaurant/suite lounge/small outdoor area for suite guests seemed unusual at the time.  But, like I said, QM2 has remained that way, and the mainstream lines have at minimum matched that (RCL Oasis/Quantum class), and other lines (NCL/MSC) have surpassed that.

I guess that is the difference, the mainstream lines have changed and added their own suite areas/programs.  So what Cunard had, now seems minimal in comparison.
