How to move up the cruise line loyalty program ranks faster

Articles like this are great and also a bane. Most people can't afford to do half of the things and some of the hacks aren't always available. Also, for some the vax/testing policies are a hinderance.

I was/will be able to rise fairly quickly, 16months if all goes as planned, to diamond plus. I did this by traveling solo, staying in suites and having sailings booked during the double promotion. I thank my lucky stars, but I also know most people don't have the resources to move up fast.

I am still learning to get the most out of each cruise without overdoing it.  For me, that is more important than moving up the ranks.  For example, I think I let myself down at the ABCs as we didn't get to do a beach excursion. Kind of dumb for that itinerary.....  I think learning to feel good and have fun each day of any vacation is where I will place emphasis.

yes, I would love to stay at suite to get 3x the point.  But can't afford that.   My first Royal Cruise was 2 weeks ago, which I travel with group but I have my own room.

7-8 - Oasis.  Solo in a room. Earn 14 points.

Next 3 cruise is solo:

Adventure of the Seas  - Oct. Solo for 5 nites.  Will earn 10 points.

Anthem of the Seas - April 23, 23 for 8 nites.  Will earn 16 points

Ovation of the Seas - May 11, 23 for 8 nites.  Will earn 16 points

That will put me at 56.  Two more solo 7 nites will put me at Diamond.  🙂  Just got another offer from Casino for a free cruise, will call them up to see which day is free..

Do casino cruises (e.g. comped/free) provide points to CandA status?

I'm assuming discounted casino cruises would provide points, but not sure.

I don't know, I am new to this.  My first casino's offer cruise will be on Oct 22.  I will find out after I cruise.  Maybe others that have cruise from casino offer can answer this.

And how much did you have to spend in the casino for that free cruise?

The one coming up Oct is from MGM offer.  The one coming up on April 23 is from the Casino Royale.  This is my first cruise with Royal Caribbean.  Total I spend about 7k.  On the 5th night, I became Prime.  And today, I got another offer from the Casino Royale.  But I haven't call them to check with the the offer yet.

they are not "Free", it is a business they give "Comp Cruises" to get spenders back in the casino.

I personally like my story from a good work friend, he always came in and told us how well he did, how much he won, free cruises.  I know he had just come back from a cruise,  on Monday he was quite, not his happy go self stayed that way, by Wed or Thursday can't remember now no real improvement, so that morning I asked him "lunch today, my treat"  during that lunch he confided in me, he dropped over 10k in the casino on that cruise, he definitely reminded me it was in confidence (Since no one on here knows him I feel OK about sharing his story)

Now did he still enjoy his time when gambling, Yes.  He considered it entertainment.  Did his family go hungry, No, so as long as it's his disposable income it is not a problem.

Friends ask me why I cruise 4-5 weeks a year, it is my entertainment, as long as it is "disposable income" it is my decision.

Wow I gamble in the casino, even made prime, ........but I have a cap. No more than a $100 a day and if I win, I play off my winnings. I know that amount won't make or break me and considering I rarely get off at ports, it is mostly my vacation budget money anyway. My upcoming Sept B2B on Nav is a casino comp, I will spend a nice amount of time in the casino, but they won't be making thousands of dollars off me.

The double points promo was the best way to move up quickly.  I squeezed in as many cruises over the past year plus as my vacation time would allow.  I used the opportunity to try out suites (and got a good rate because occupancy was low).  I moved from 21 points to 120 points since June 2021.

I was willing to deal with whatever Covid issues/protocols came along. To be honest, I think I will miss the days of sailing on 50% capacity ships despite all of the covid protocol inconveniences.

I went from 82 to 182, myself, since the restart

Same here. I had 2 years of canceled vacation time banked up, so I've been able to cruise more often since the restart. I will pass the 340 threshold by the end of the year which is helpful for me for the discount on the solo supplement..it will make cruising more affordable. But alas I will have drained my vacation time just to get to that point!

Lol I started with 5 points on Royal, I am currently at 104 with 3 still scheduled this year and 2 in Jan 2023 that will get me to D+. Sadly, only 1 of the cruises left this year is double points and just one next year is in a suite. The great thing is they are all different ships, so not only am I moving up, but I am moving through the ship classes.

I have a weird question. I booked a next cruise that I need to use soon and also have a comp cruise available. Can I combine my next cruise with my comp cruise to help pay the taxes and fees? And if I can't make it last minute would I still get C&A points even if I "no show"? Obviously this is not a smart way to build up points haha, but I don't wanna lose my next cruise if I can swing it in my schedule.

Contact the casino to see if they will allow you to use the next cruise certificate with a comp

you never get C&A points for being a no show.
