What time do onboard bars close?

Recommended Posts

I know the promenade cafe stays open all night - but what time do they close the bars?

Either around the ship and in the Casino?

Hi, the bars will stay open very late and normally wait for most people to leave the area. We have been in the Casino at 01:30 and the bar was still open and busy. There may be a proposed time but i have never seen one close before we went back to our room.

Please bare in mind though the Bars and Casino and Shops do not open while in port but don't worry they open pretty quick when you leave

Bars are open while the ship is in port, however shops and casino are not.  Although there have been some recent changes authorizing shops/casino to open when the ship is in port overnight or late (Bahamas and Bermuda).  The disco, casino and often Viking Crown lounge normally are open past midnight to early morning.  Centrum, R-Bar, Schooner Bar type of lounges normally close around midnight.

I have not been on a cruise yet where the bars stayed open all nite or waited for people to leave.

The "main" bars were closed by midnight at the latest, the only bar that stayed open would be the "disco" club in the crown and anchor lounge and that was closed by 2am at the latest, maybe earlier some nights.

No options for any drinks after that untill the morning, 10ish before the bars re-open.

Bars onboard do have times posted in the Cruise Compass when they will close. Like others said some are listed as "late" with no specific time listed. I guess it would depend on the ship and demographic of people onboard. I've only sailed on newer ships with a lot of younger people, so the bars stay open later. On Oasis, the Rising Tide Bar was open way past midnight when there was a parade/concert going on in the Royal Promenade. And it was packed too.

Also on Oasis several mornings you would get "wake up bloody mary's" at the pool bar starting at 8am! I've also seen midnight martini's in the Viking Crown Lounge.  :P

Strange, as the cuises I have been on, are normally considered more party/lively cruises....4 days ones, Bahamas etc.  I do recall the cruise compass saying"late", but it wasnt my idea of late, and it wasnt for lack of people around to consume. Then again, i don't consider midnight to be late....lol
