brassfrog
Having never been on a cruise, I'm curious what is a typical day at sea for the members of this forum. What time do you get up? Where do you have breakfast? What's a typical morning activity? Where do you eat lunch? What's an afternoon activity? Where do you prefer dinner? What about evening activities? What time do you finally collapse into bed? DAVE(Darkcabbie) and markinct
michelle
good question - my husband is up about 6am he likes to walk the deck before its crowded - then he meets up with people - gets breakfast and coffee I typically get up and try and do a class or go to the Gym and work out, it gets busier on sea days. Many times they have good deals at the Spa so I have done that, and lots of activities - I have never been bored Actually I almost find I'm more busy - on Sea Days cause I really get to see the ship Go to shows for sure on these days and I like to eat in the Main Dining room and save specialty dinners for days in port. others? brassfrog, markinct and DAVE(Darkcabbie)
Matt
If the sea day is after a port day, we try to sleep in a little. That being said, I don't want to miss breakfast so we usually use our daughter as our alarm clock....when she wakes up, so do we  We use sea days to do things on the ship like massages, ice skating, see a show, etc. But in the afternoon we try for putting my daughter in Adventure Ocean so my wife and I can enjoy some time by the pool relaxing. About what time we go to bed, we are terrible about staying up late. We always think we will stay up late but we run around so much in the day that we're wiped by 10pm :D DAVE(Darkcabbie) and markinct

Where do you have breakfast? What's a typical morning activity? Where do you eat lunch? What's an afternoon activity? Where do you prefer dinner? What about evening activities? What time do you finally collapse into bed? A typical sea day for us is to get up around 08:00 and hit the Windjammer for breakfast then we hit the Gym for about 1 and a half hours followed by a good swim in the adult pool and then some chill time in the hot tubs :) . By now we are pretty hungry again so it's the Windjammer for lunch and then the afternoon is normally spent playing mini golf or flowrider and hitting the Royal Promenade for some shopping or as we men like to call it Torture . We don't do the MDR much so for us it's Chops Grille or Giovannis maybe Johnny Rockets or Windjammer and then we spend most evenings watching a show or drinking in the Viking Lounge and always hit the Casino. We finally go to bed around Midnight to 01:00. markinct
Tylor
Having never been on a cruise, I'm curious what is a typical day at sea for the members of this forum. What time do you get up? Where do you have breakfast? What's a typical morning activity? Where do you eat lunch? What's an afternoon activity? Where do you prefer dinner? What about evening activities? What time do you finally collapse into bed? This is a great question. I will tell you, most people settle into an onboard routine very quickly. You find what works for you and repeat it each day. For me, I rise early. I always have and always will, no matter where I am. When on vacation I'm usually up by 7am. Especially when I'm on a cruise, I don't want to miss anything. After I shower and get cleaned up, its off to breakfast. For breakfast, I usually go to the Main Dining Room. I like a relaxed eating environment, so the Windjammer Marketplace really isn't for me. But that is not to say I don't go to the Windjammer at all. In the Main Dining Room, you can choose ordering from a set menu that usually changes from day to day or go to the walk up buffet. Or you can choose both, it's up to you. After breakfast I usually go back to the stateroom or I hit the walking track and check out the sights of where we are! I walk a lot while onboard, making sure I see the entire ship and always skip the elevator in favor for the stairs. Gotta feel the burn! Lunch again is in the Main Dining Room if it is open. It's only open on Sea Days. If not, then it's the Windjammer Marketplace for lunch or Sorrentos Pizza or Cafe Promenade. I try and go to the Windjammer a little before or after the lunch hour rush. It makes a more pleasant experience and the food is refilled and usually more fresh. Afternoon activities might include a nap, more walking, people watching by the pool, or sitting in the Solarium staring out the window, thinking "I can't believe I'm on a cruise!" One afternoon activity I partake in each day, is getting an ice cream (or frozen yogurt) cone by the pool. I try and keep myself to just 1 cone, but sometimes it's 2. I won't lie. I dress up for dinner each night. I dress up for work, so throwing on dress slacks and a button down isn't that big of a deal for me. My wife loves to wear dresses, so we always make a night of it. Dinner usually happens in the Main Dining Room. We check the dinner menu each day after lunch and if the menu isn't appealing, we book a specialty restaurant. We're totally not picky about food, but not thrilled with fish or Indian options. After dinner it's off to the nights show. After a few more drinks and a walk and stroll through the shops, it's off to bed. brassfrog, DAH and DAVE(Darkcabbie)
Ray C
Do you have to book the reastuarants other than the windjammer for breakfast and lunch or can you just walk in?😳
poider
We would normally wake up around 7 go down to the main dining room or the windjammer and have breakfast around 8 30, then we would have a look at what was happening in the Centrum then maybe go for a game of mini golf then have some lunch at the windjammer before heading back to the room for a while then we would wander around the deck maybe have a game of shuffle board then we would have an afternoon drink with some friends at the colony club or schooner bar before heading for a show at 7 15 after the show we would have dinner in the main dining room until about 10pm then either head for the schooner bar or the quill and compass pub for a drink or two before either heading back to the room or off to a disco, bed was usually between 1130 and 1 30 Peter
DocLC
Do you have to book the reastuarants other than the windjammer for breakfast and lunch or can you just walk in? Breakfast and lunch are open seating, meaning you just show up during the operating hours and will be seated at the next available table. The only reason you would need a reservation for lunch is if you wanted to dine at a specialty restaurant that was offering a lunch special (e.g., Giovani's Table). Don
On at least one sea day rise early for the most awesome sunrise you will ever experience- take your camera & get to top deck for fully unobstruced view. The show starts 15-30 minutes before sunrise and lasts until about 30 minutes of sunrise. Partial cloudy days are best - the sun lights up the clouds like night launch hot air ballons. You will not regret it. The sunrises are like sunsets on steriods. WhiteSoxFan

As I discovered on my last cruise, Giovanni's Table doesn't accept reservations for lunch. My group of 20+ people descended on Giovanni's Table immediately after boarding to get in line early so we could sit together. They put together a couple large tables for us. WhiteSoxFan
I didn't see this mentioned, but we always check the Compass to see what activities are planned for the day. We check to see when they are having trivia, rock climbing, any events like the belly flop or world's sexiest man competition, shows, etc. We plan our day around the activities in which we wish to participate or watch. As others have mentioned we fill in the remainder with eating, pool, working out, eating, walking the ship and eating. :) markinct and DocLC

Floski
At home we stay up late on Fri/Sat and love to sleep in. But when I'm on a cruise, I hate to miss out on anything, so I try to get up as early as possible. The helo pad is a great place to be when it's real early.
