What's open on ship on port days

Recommended Posts

I know that the shops and the casino are NOT open on port days.  What IS open on port days on the ship?  From some years ago, I remember the water slides, flowrider, and rock climbing wall being open but don't know what the status is currently. Going on Independence next March and trying to put together some sort of plan for port days on islands we've already been to and done that.  Thanks in advance for any information!

I am attaching a recent cruise compass from Indy.  You can find a port day and it should be similar to what will be available.

Keep in mind on some port days, the ship takes the opportunity to do their crew drills. So, some bars and services may be closed during those times due to lack of manpower. Also, on some ships, they will close a pool while in port to train the crew on life raft operations (which is pretty interesting to watch). As posted above, your best bet is to check the Cruise Compass section for previous cruises for your ship to get an idea of what’s open and the hours. Enjoy!

oooh, I've never seen this.  I did see the life craft in the water-while I was up in the NorthStar on Anthem- when  drills were happening in Nassau.  Oddly, Oasis has not been doing their drills in Nassau lately, or the last 3 cruises I did between May and June were anomalies.  They did them at CoCoCay.
