HeliPad on Independence/Stargazing

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I have seen many posts about people going to the HeliPad on Independence for sail away.

I was wondering if the public has access to the Helipad on Independence at night.

One of my fondest memories of my first cruise was going to the front of the ship at night and seeing the stars as I had never seen them in my life (this was back in 1986, so I know lots of things may have changed).  It seems the front of the ship is kept 'dark' so the folks on the bridge do not lose their night vision, etc.  At least it was back in those days.

Subsequent/Recent Cruises have not afforded access tot he front of the ship.

It's typically available unless winds are up or there is inclement weather.

I have seen some people bring a powerful flashlight with them which defeats the whole idea and can lead to the bridge closing access for that cruise.  It just takes one yahoo to spoil it for everyone.  It's dark for a reason.
