melmar02
If you have been on a land tour in Alaska, I have a question for you. Did you have the same main tour guide for the duration of the land tour, or were you "passed off" to a different guide at each town? We're planning tips, and obviously there are the actual land excursion guides that run the individual excursion. We're trying to figure out who else we need to account for - like a main point of contact for the whole land package? WAAAYTOOO
AshleyDillo
We had two guides with us the whole time for land tour. One served as the bus driver and one was the tour guide. They were at the hotels each night and served as the point of contact for everyone, booked the optional excursions, gave out info, etc. You mentioned the individual excursions and you are correct they will all have additional guides that provide tippable service. For example our tour had a Denali Park visit where we loaded on school buses with the park tour guide. There was a tour guide narrator on the train portions, not to mention a beverage service and also dining staff on the train. Psycho and Barb
We had the same guide and bus driver the whole time and we did tip them both afterwards. They made sure our luggage was at our hotel room every night and they picked it back up in the morning.
