AtlantaNole
Has anyone done this tour? I have heard you really don't need a tour in Estonia. Curious what people who have been there think.
Neaxan
We did Tallinn without a tour. We took a taxi to the Alexander-Newski-Cathedral first thing in the morning before the Hop on Hop off bus even starts. The taxis wait at the end of the pier. That way you beat the crowds and spare yourself from hiking the hill up to the cathedral. You then walk down the Pikk Jalg into the city centre which is easily walkable. After walking around and having lunch we took the Hop on Hop off bus to see a bit more of the city. Bonus point: the bus drops you off at the pier. ChessE4
My son just got back from the Baltic and reports that Tallin is the easiest walk from the ship on that itinerary. He and his wife had a good time without an excursion.
Mathias
If you never been to Tallin before, I would recommend you just walk from the pier to the Old Town. It is close and really well preserved medieval town. The Old Town is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and you can easily walk around there a couple hours. Tallin is not that expensive, so you can grab a lunch and beer in town. No need for booking any Royal Caribbean excursions for this port. One other recommendation would be to visit the Pub Scotland Yard which has a really interesting decor and atmosphere. For example, the toilets are shaped like electric chairs. It is a pub but they serve pretty good food there as well Edited May 31, 2022 by Mathias typo
