😞 positive test

Getting worried about our two cruises now and the fact that 12 other people are coming on our cruise we booked. I hope we don't get the blame if they test positive.

We have decided to avoid crowded locations on the ship and will probably wear masks.

We both have covid at the minute and it's pretty nasty. Going to phone the doctor tomorrow see if we can get some tablets for it.

The first thing I did coming off the ship was a telehealth appointment to get Paxlovid. There are some medications that can't be mixed with it unfortunately. I think it helped me and would make the same decision again. I hope you feel better soon.

As for where I think I slipped up, I think it was at dinner in the main dining room. I started out masked walking around, and stayed masked at trivia and a show in the theater.  I was not 100% on that though and I should have been. If I cruise again, I will definitely choose a ship with an outside Windjammer and go at least crowded times.

Agree…we got off Independence 20 May after back to back had some minor sniffles develop 19 May. We were meeting our son his wife and her parents prior to his military department for 7 day Harmony cruise 22 May. Got 2x test within a couple hours of debarking Independence and I tested Positive wife did not…had to cancel cruise.  We are fully vaccinated and double boosted. Used my casino balcony offer combined with my wife’s ocean view offer for Jr Suite and had $200.00 freeplay. Asked if we could rebook was told the offer used was no longer available.  Arrr. Doing 3x AK cruises in Aug followed by transpacific cruise and now getting nervous for another positive test with little or minor symptoms. We have done 10 cruises since pandemic and this was first positive test.

Must be symphony because serenade docked on sunday not saturday (i was on it lol)

Yes I agree it was Symphony. I was on the same sailing and tested positive the day after we disembarked. We had a wonderful cruise on Symphony and the time off now to recover from Covid just means more time to plan my next cruise! 🥰😍

Wife started with sniffles Tuesday night and tested positive today after departing SOS on Saturday 14th. Facebook group page has numerous people reporting positive tests. We heard nothing while on board nor did we inquire about cases. Vaccinated and double boosted.
Just be careful folks but we had a great cruise.

I hope your wife is feeling better and you too! Thankfully I'm the only one in my immediate family that caught it and I'm trying not to spread it to the other family members. Vaccinated, boosted, over abundantly hand washed and hand sanitized, kept our distance as much as possible (which realistically with 5500+ on that sailing was non existent) and covid found its way. We still had a great time and in no way will covid stop us from cruising. We're learning to live with it, be flexible with unexpected changes and to remember that being on a cruise is always better than not being on one!

I believe the risk is higher if you travel with kids who go to adventure Ocean. Kids are superspreaders because they spend lots of time at adventure Ocean with no masks, and most of them are asymptomatic.

I believe this is how we got it. Crowds of parents with kids to drop off at AO, at some point there were 45 kids playing at the same time. No surprise my daughter contracted it quickly, and then I got it from her.

Side note.  We were on Symphony and they had 42 passengers quarantined.  I remember the sea day after St. Thomas prior to Coco Cay hearing about 6 names being called while I was lounging in the Solaium....so and so deck 6, so and so deck 9, etc please report to the medical.

I turned to my hubby and said omg, they are calling them bc they have a medical emergency....pre-covid sailings.  Never did I think they were doing contact tracing until after we left and people were showing them leaving....hazmat suits.   They were segregated to deck 3

Leaving on Saturday from Miami on Symphony of the Seas. It's been almost 10 years since my last cruise. Any advice for avoiding the covid? Places to avoid? In our party of 12, only 2 are pre-teen so hopefully our chances of catching it from them are lessened. Thanks.

I thought masks were mandatory at adventure Ocean, no? Is it just not being enforced or did they do away with it?

I usually travel solo; always social distance (even before Covid was a thing😁); always wash my hands thoroughly with soap and water (not the splash and dash that I see some others do); never touch a bannister (a ship captain gave me that advice long ago); use the stairs a lot trying to avoid crowded elevators (very carefully because of the no-bannister-touching🥴); grab the buffet tongs near the bottom; I even use hydrogen peroxide wipes to wipe down my room when I first board.

I always did these things even pre-Covid. My concern was avoiding flu and, especially…Norovirus. That’s why the hydrogen peroxide wipes. Regular alcohol wipes don’t kill Noro.

But…I know there is no way to completely avoid Covid exposure. Even wearing a mask will not prevent me from getting it…it may offer some protection but it’s primarily meant to keep me from unknowingly spreading it if I am asymptomatic.

I have been on 18 cruises since Sept…many b2bs…through Delta and the beginning of Omicron…and I have been extremely lucky. But, it finally got me. I disembarked from a 7 night on the Oasis on May 8…luckily it wasn’t a b2b. That afternoon I had a minor sore throat which lasted into the next day. I tested and was positive. Minor cold symptoms for three days.

I cancelled the next cruise on the Adventure scheduled for May 12. Didn’t need to send a copy of the test because it was outside the 48hrs CWC. Received refunds for my Cruise Planner purchases in three days…and a full cruise refund in fourteen days…three days after the cruise ended. Oh, well…I figure it was inevitable…but now I have the antibodies.

I hope everyone who gets it going forward has the same minor symptoms…or less…and recovers quickly. And I hope the inconvenience for those being isolated onboard is stress-free. Also, I hope the refund process is just as quick. Best wishes to all!
