ihaoan
Can anyone here provide detailed route information for Ovation sailings out of Seattle up the inside passage and back? Marine chart detailed route information is what is requested, not just general information. Can anyone suggest a known source of such information? Does anyone have a gps track of this journey on board Ovation that they would be willing to share?
SpeedNoodles
You can always follow a sailing on marinetraffic.com to see what route she's taking this week. CruisingOz and ihaoan 1

Thanks for the suggestion! That will suffice nicely. I'll watch for sailings of the same itinerary. KristiZ
smokeybandit
Some of those marine tracking sites might have historic tracks with that level of info in their premium membership offerings. ihaoan

SebagoSue
We are looking to book this cruise also and I am wondering if we should book port or starboard. Did you come to any conclusion given what you saw of the route? I would want to book the land side for the the majority of the cruise. Thank you. Ovation has only made one voyage to Alaska this season and is currently entering the inside passage for the second time this season, completely different routes/itineraries for each, so there is not a wealth of historical data to explore. My take is that it will be a wash either way, no matter which side you are on, but I've never been there before. I will defer to experienced cruisers. @twangster? Ovation and Quantum will sail the Alaskan Inside Passage but not the Canadian or British Columbia Inside Passage as they are too tall and can't fit under the power lines that cross the narrows of the BC Inside Passage. Since these are round trip cruises from Seattle the choice of port or starboard is irrelevant. You will see land in the distance going North but not South or vice versa. Plus when sailing out in the Pacific the ships are 20 miles or so from land so they are in international waters and can open the shops and casinos on board. There isn't a lot to see in terms of land from the ship in the Pacific Ocean. Once you are in the Alaskan Inside Passage both sides will have land views so again port or starboard is irrelevant. ihaoan and SebagoSue
twangster
This Ovation live blog from 2019 includes photos of the onboard map channel at various times: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/boards/index.php?/topic/12630-ovation-goes-north-way-north-to-alaska-11-nights-may-13-2019/ I'm currently on Quantum on the way to Victoria on day 7. We passed Ovation who was heading North out in the open Pacific yesterday. I'll be posting a recap of this trip soon and will include photos of the map channel on the TV system. Ovation and Quantum are offering similar itineraries that depart Seattle on different days of the week but both ships offer varying itineraries that change the order of the stops for some sailings. This cruise routed Seattle to Ketchikan to Sitka to Juneau then return to Seattle. Cruises that visit Juneau first will stay out in the Pacific longer on the way North. Your routing may vary depending on the order of the ports of call specific to your sail date. ihaoan and SebagoSue
