Don't understand booking breakdown

Recommended Posts

There is a current promotion of 30% off each guest + kids sail free. However, when I try to book my itinerary I'm still seeing a charge for my 2 kids when I view the price breakdown per guest. I am certain I am within the parameters to qualify for this promotion but I don't understand. Itinerary is 3 nights, sail June 2022, balcony room... am I missing something?

Also, the price when selecting my room type says $255/pp but the price breakdown is much higher even though I'm not selecting anything with an additional charge.

Is all this correct? Am I still getting the discounts in the promotion? How should I interpret this? TIA!

30% off of $784 is $235.20. $235.20 x2 (passengers 1 & 2) = $470.40. + $854 (full cost of kids fares 3 & 4: $427 x2) = $1,324.40. Awfully close to your $1,326 discount there. So Kids Sail Free is calculated in the 30% off all guests on this.

Your $255 per person = $1020 for 2 adults, 2 kids. That's your fares for 1, 2, 3 & 4 (including KSF -- $784 x2) = $1568 - $76 flash sale = $1492 - 30% off on guests 1 & 2 ($470.4) = $1021.6. Divide that by the 4 passengers and it rounds to $255/person.

If you go back in and mock book just 2 adults see what the price shows are and compare total room costs.
Perhaps royal math causes the room cost to be divided by 4 occupants, despite the kids really being free.  No one can figure out Royal math

another thought, your sailing may be in the blackout dates.

Thanks! I tried doing this but the room with 2 adults+2 kids is twice as much as 2 adults! Howww?.. Why? uggghhhhhhghh

Thanks for your feedback! I follow your math. However, I tried what the prev poster suggested of comparing a mock book of a room with just 2 adults vs a room with 2 adults+2 kids and the room with 2adults+2kids is virtually twice as much... hardly "kids sail free" as advertised and makes the promotion soooo incredibly misleading!I feel like I've been bait and switched:( I feel like this "discount/promotion" is too misleading that it can't be right and there must surely be a mistake somewhere in my booking?? Oh please tell me my thinking is not far off! TIA!

If I'm not mistaken, the $114.18 for taxes and fees must still be paid, even if the fare is free.

Adults: $784 x .7 (30% off) = 548.8 x 2 = 1097.6

Taxes and fees: $114.18 x 4 = 456.72

1097.6 + 456.72 = 1554.32

1554.32 - 76 - 146 = 1332.32 (rounding error?)

I think as someone else pointed out, the 2 person vs 4 person room are priced differently. I'm assuming they would actually be different categories.

I just did a mock booking for a 3 day out of Ensenada in June and with 4 people in the cabin (4 adults or 2 adults/2 children) it only gave an option for category 3B.

With just two adults, it was a 3B or a 4B, but the 3B added an extra $100 or so to the price, presumably to make up for the lost revenue on the higher capacity cabin.

Yes, they are young but the fine print only mentions being 12 and under to qualify for this promotion and they are in that age range. Is there a difference at certain ages?

No, just the age 13 shift to adult fare. I call mine "kids" but they are teens.
