Anyone onboard now to confirm / deny casino promo rumor??

Recommended Posts

There have been a few people who suggested that the casino promo that has been running (the one shown in the attachment below offering free cruises / money-off offers from 800 pts and up during a single cruise) would bite the dust on May 1. Some hosts denied this was coming, others claimed the opposite. So for those on any RCCL ship now, does the promo continue, has it been replaced, or was it trashed?!

Hmmm well I answered my own question LOL

The promo did change, although I am not sure this is it all positive since there’s been some troubles with the casino bookings and NEXT CRUISE (and  if they don’t allow for the open booking option, it would be extremely difficult for some people {including us} to book within the narrow window of a single sailing or to know for whom we might want to book).

My points earned me the interior cabin but look closely at the 1600 points listed above “complimentary interior “, nothing says it must be booked onboard.  Now look at my certificate

”booking bonus, book onboard to receive a complimentary interior on select dates”.

Next cruise was jammed on Day 7.  They have a “new” net cruise thing. Book your reservation with a $200 deposit and use it to book your casino reservation with the casino within 7 days”.

Of course the more you play the more you get. I was demonstrating the choices given. The casino host stated the offers would be valid through September (not the case, for all the offers).  No where does it say “must book onboard” until you get the actual offer.  It’s a bit misleading.

That is misleading and different from what we experienced in our three cruises this year.  Each time we either received an offer in our room upon checkin in and/or departure and nowhere did it indicate it needed to be booked while onboard.  Some did require booking within a short timeframe but not before leaving the ship.   I will verify that next week when we board Symphony.  If you've earned the offer, you shouldn't lose it for not booking while onboard IMO.  Thank you for sharing.

There is a second page to the original “new” onboard offer that I came across - just adding it for extra info. Hopefully with more and more reports we will figure out what’s going on with this new “system” 🤨 Thanks all. Hoping for a few offers vis email and mail, but with only 1 cruise behind me where I was below what I needed for Prime, I don’t know if there will be (even though in 2019 I did get several even though I was Choice - hard to know their calculation at this point).

@Pattycruise the varied options for sailing is odd, rather than being the same list. Maybe they are experimenting 😳

#6 makes it seem like the only requirement to book onboard is to receive the bonus upgrade or FreePlay offer. The typical offer earned you should still have 30 days to redeem.

It was 30 days until we got to May 1 😞 Now they want to go to next cruise and book something before you get off the ship or within a short time after (the latter may be an option) for the bonus.  I don’t know that there are 30 days play here or not, but the bonuses are a pretty major loss.  I don’t know how long Royal is going hold the line on this, or if it will change again, I guess time will tell.

  • 2 weeks later...

We were Choice with no points before our b2b cruise on Grandeur this month. We had already been receiving offers from the casino throughout the year, the last being $100 off on any cruise.

We achieved Prime on this cruise, and received (in our room) a certificate for $200 off on any cruise.

When we arrived home and I checked the website we also had an offer of $400 off on select cruises.

We’re you prime the previous year?

When you suppose to get the certificate , is it on the last day ?

Do you mean the certificates when you meet a certain level during a single cruise? I have heard some people get those the last day, but they didn’t do that for me and I ended up only seeing it online. If you mean the yearly tier cruise, that I believe posts to your account on or around May 1 (could be a lag, others with more experience with Prime, etc may be able to address that)

As of May 1st sailings the certificates are now put in your stateroom on your final full day of sailing. On Oasis it was the stateroom attendant that had them to place in the cabin.  I asked specifically for any papers for me and there was a tad of a language barrier as well as confusion and he told me he had nothing for me.  When I pressed further he said he had something for my neighbor (who was also my friend, same first name)....turns out he had one for each of us.  We had booked 11:00 Nextcruise to use our certificates so that's why I was "pushy".  The only "problem" when you redeem your certificate, any gambling done after that gets you nothing.  The alternative would be to purchase a reservation from next cruise for $200 which covers a deposit for up to 2 and redeem the certificate within 7 days with the Club Royal casino to get the max benefit from your onboard gambling for the full length of the cruise.
