Booking two solo rooms instead of double occupancy

Recommended Posts

Im a cruise newbee and trying to book two adults and an infant.

I noticed that booking double occupancy suite is more expensive than booking a solo suite and solo inside room. Even if we dont end up utilizing the inside room it seems to be a better option.
Can this be done?

Any downside to booking two seperate rooms vs one on a double occupancy?

You may have different muster stations. Not likely if you're booking in close proximity but something to keep in mind.

Also the room steward in the suite will only be getting the suites rate for gratuity for 1 person if you book solo but they will have to do the cleaning for 3. Keep this in mind when considering extra gratuity for the suite steward.

Only the person booked in the suite will have the suite privileges, so depending on the ship and suite category this could be significant or not significant.

Are you not adding the child to the booking? You mentioned 2 adults and one baby.  You need to book for 3 passengers.

edit:

also since this is your first cruise, be aware that there are minimum ages for infants to sail, 6 months, unless 3 or more sea days in a row, then minimum age is 1 year.

what ship and sailing are you considering?

Also, welcome to the Blog !!

It sounds like you're not counting the infant as an occupant, but you have to. Cruise ships are not like hotels where infants are not classed as occupants and you need to count every person (souls). So you need to be looking for a triple occupancy suite or a double occupancy plus a solo.

I agree that something doesn't add up with this pricing scenario.  I have real trouble believing that single occupancy in a suite (which would be priced at double occupancy unless the cruiser is >340 points and even then it would still be 1.5 occupancy) would be less than double occupancy in a suite. I think there is a mistake in this, somewhere.
