VOOM - 2 packages Which one to get?

Recommended Posts

We get the Surf + Stream and its borderline useable.  Speedtest with a VPN consistently shows single digit speeds, usually 5 or under.  Can't imagine it being significantly faster even without VPN.  Anything less than this is pretty much useless and you'll spend more time buffering than enjoying content.  If you intend to use it for media Surf + Stream is a must and even then don't expect it it work seamlessly all the time.  But you're on a ship so this is expected.

Go with Surf and Stream.  Your experience will definitely depend on the ship you are on, as well as where in the world you are sailing.  We were easily able to stream movies, videos, and live stream on Odyssey and Allure in the Caribbean.  Not so much Ovation in Alaska.  Older ships also do not have the newest technology and your experience may vary.

Surf might work, but you are probably better off getting the surf and stream version.  Even then, performance varies on different ships.

I would absolutly get Surf and Stream. Video conferncing is essentually a 2 way streaming service and needs the faster bandwidth that the Surf and Stream service allows.

I think it is important to moderate your expectations with internet sppeds on ships. While RCL internet is really good for ship board internet access that reality is the spped can range for 'almost unusable' to 'bearly adequate' with a smattering of 'this is pretty good'.
