Hharris1997
No reason really other than Like the idea you can lay in bed with the balcony door open. FoxboroCruiser, USCG Teacher, WAAAYTOOO and 1 other 3
Moby Dick
One of the first things I do, other than the morning trip to you know where, is go out onto the balcony just to watch the world go by and smell the ocean. I'd rather do that and not have to walk around the bed and bump into it while opening the balcony door and waking up my wife. Beside, if the bed is closer to the door, if I'm a little tipsy, I don't have far to fall to get into bed. Okay, I'm never a little tipsy, I'm a lot tipsy or try to be while on a cruise. WAAAYTOOO
I find that the bed near the balcony provides more open space in the room. You don’t have to maneuver around the bed to get to the open area. I also like being able to lie in bed and look out the sliders. Like @Hharris1997I like lying in bed with the sliders open. Moby Dick
50/50 right now. Come on Sofa near the balcony slider! We can do this! WAAAYTOOO, Neesa and FoxboroCruiser 2
AshleyDillo
I feel like the sofa closer to the door gives everyone more room to get ready and maneuver between the bathroom and the room. PPPJJ-GCVAB and FoxboroCruiser 1
bobroo
The sofa is really a catch all for clothing, backpacks, and the bags of goodies you bought in port. A lot like the treadmill in your basement. FoxboroCruiser and Neesa 1
PPPJJ-GCVAB
Absolutely the bed near the balcony and I will do a lot of searching to make sure that is what I will get. I choose a room...go to you tube video reviews...and try to find that room or a close proximity room review so I can see the configuration. Best part is when I get to sleep on the side of the bed closest to the balcony! I agree with @WAAAYTOOO the room feels more spacious when the sofa is near the door. DublinFC
sofa by the balcony, seems easier to get in and out out to the balcony with out the bed there. FoxboroCruiser
MattG
So i've come to find out that if the BED is near the slider, the room is double occupancy (the sofa doesn't fold out), and if the SOFA is near the slider, it's quad occupancy (the sofa DOES fold out). For our family, a bed near the slider isn't an option PPPJJ-GCVAB and FoxboroCruiser
fishernrex
Sofa by the door if in a standard balcony only because we travel with a mobility scooter and it's easier to park out of the way. In a Junior Suite or above, no real preference. WAAAYTOOO and FoxboroCruiser 1
