RCL4Life Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 I was discussing with my wife today if Quantum of the seas will be the best Royal Caribbean ship they've made or if Oasis/Allure will retain the distinction of being the best. Quote
Matt Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 That's a tough question. "Best" is a subjective term, but I feel like Oasis or Allure will remain their flagship cruise ship once the hoopla over Quantum's launch dies down. After all, Allure is still the biggest cruise ship in the world, as well as the fleet. Quote
Julie Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 I cannot wait to sail on her. Bumper cars look so cool! Quote
Bryce G. Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 I'm afraid that Quantum is a bit too gimmicky. They're trying for "new" and "innovative," but I"m not sure how great the North Star and Sky Diving thing will be. But they'll give it a try. The virtual balcony thing is a great innovation I'd like to see. That being said, I agree with Matt. "Best" is a subjective term. As it stands, Allure and Oasis might not be defined as the "best" by many passengers. They may be the largest, allowing for a variety of amenities, but sometimes smaller == luxury == more attention to detail == better service. The sheer size of the Oasis class will remain in-tact and a call-to-fame. trainer.stan 1 Quote

While I think rccl is using things like ripcord and northstar as selling points today, the ship itself and the venues, staterooms and facilities will be the bigger draw. Along with where it's sailing from (NY). Once they announce all of the new features, restaurants and shows (broadway?), I feel like they can focus less on the fact the ship has a clown school Quote
Bryce G. Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 They BETTER have Broadway shows! UPDATE: Matt covered it in his blog here http://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2013/08/07/quantum-seas-frequently-asked-questions-reveals-more-details Looks like we're all set. Matt 1 Quote

Racer734 Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 I am excited for Quantum because it looks really beautiful. Everyone always talks about how pretty the Radiance class ships are and I feel like Quantum is a mix of Radiance beauty and Oasis size. Quote

DuckHunter Posted June 30, 2025 Report Posted June 30, 2025 Well...since it was brought back to life, what are your thoughts everyone? We are cruising on the Quantum next April and wondering if the ship aged well. Just got off of the Symphony and loved it. I heard that the shops in the Royal Esplanade are much bigger brands like Tiffany and Co. and Coach. Quote
mills10 Posted June 30, 2025 Report Posted June 30, 2025 I haven't sailed on an Oasis class yet, but have sailed on Quantum and Ovation. We loved the Quantum class. The iFly is a lot of fun. The North Star was cool, but the free version is all you need. We love the SeaPlex where you can do bumper cars, roller skate, and so many other activities. Quote
WAYNO Posted June 30, 2025 Report Posted June 30, 2025 I don't often compare one ship to another. In many cases it's apples to oranges for multiple reasons. We have been on Quantum multiple times recently and it's as tremendous as ever. One thing my Wife mentioned just now, is it doesn't breathe. "What does that mean?", I asked her. She said we always come home sick. I hadn't thought of it, but a relatively closed up ship in less than summer weather, that does make some sense. The ship itself however is beautiful, and as best I remember, everything is perfect. Thumper44 1 Quote
