There are solo cabins on some ships, but they become so popular that their price can rise quickly (supply and demand)...if they aren't already sold out. I have found that getting a regular cabin is so much better for just a little more money. More space! ...and more choice. With Royal's periodic sales, the prices can drop significantly. So, I always book what I want...and if the price drops, I call and re-price it. Never had a problem. A good travel agent can monitor that for you.
