the prices are all updated now!

I just checked, the prices don't seem to show very much of a discount. The "Sip & Stream" package looks like a good deal. The deluxe drink package and VOOM internet service for 1 person is $49.00 per day, plus gratuity. The drink package alone is $44.00.

I just priced it out and we would save around $55 for the week.

Had a drink package already planned for my February anthem cruise and paid 48 per person per day. Was able to cancel and rebook the deluxe and voom package for $49 per person per day and for some reason the total was less than what I originally booked. I'll take that. :)

I must be missing something, I don't see the voom and drink package.

Thanks but I have nothing under the refreshment package and not in the featured spot.  Wonder if its because I only have 8 days until the cruise.

That may be the reason. My cruise is still 85 days away. You may be able to call on monday and ask to see if your cruise is eligible for that upgrade.

I have a big 4 day cruise in February and I had already booked just one excursion in Key West and one dinner at Chops. The cruise planner had my dinner marked down 20%, $7, and my excursion marked down by $3. I am so cheap, I cancelled both and then bought them again. I figure I can use that $10 in the casino.

First time cruisers June 2017, and I have to say I am very "under-whelmed" by the Black Friday / Cyber Monday promotions from RCCL.

The cruise rate being offered is actually 19% higher than what we already booked (and we were told then to expect the price to drop going forward, but it hasn't).

The Excursion discounts are very minor, and the beverage discounts appear to be the same as previous promotions (except maybe the alcohol & Voom pkg which might be a deal if we drank much).

I was just expecting more. Like I said, we are first time cruisers and we've always heard what a great deal cruises are, but so far the cruise price, plus all the "extras" are really starting to add up to be a very expensive vacation for a family of 4 (and we don't have to pay for airfare or extra hotel nights).

I will say this blog has been GREAT, and I have learned so much from all of you and the Moderator. This is part of the reason we have stuck with RCCL for our first cruise. So THANK YOU to all of you.

Please let me know if I am missing something on finding the real savings secrets, that may alleviate my discouragement.

I just talked with my TA and had her see if she could take advantage of the cyber monday deals today.  There is a deal right now for booking and you get 300 dollars on board credit.  She ended up having to cancel and re-book my reservation to take advantage of this.  The total of the trip went up 25 bucks but now i get 300 on board instead of the original 100 when i booked so was pretty happy with that and think its worth it.  Since this is my first cruise, are there restrictions with the on-board credit or can you spend it with your sea pass on anything like dinners, drinks or merchandise?

As far as I know, and I am sure Matt has more information, you can use the credits for shore excursions, specialty restaurant, etc. It goes on your shipboard account and purchases will be deducted from it. It sounds like a lot but when two people are eating at a specialty restaurant just once that is over $70, it doesn't take long to go through the OBC.

Just about anything you buy once on-board will go on your Sea-Pass. Think of it like a credit card, where you get the statement at the end of the cruise with all of your charges and you have to pay the balance owing before you leave the ship. The on-board credit will show up on this final statement to reduce the amount due, e.g. if you have $400 in charges on things like dinners, spa treatments, merchandise, etc., the $300 credit will reduce the amount owing to $100, and this is what will be charged to your pre-arranged credit card unless you go to the purser's desk to arrange an alternate payment method. If your total charges are $200, you won't owe anything after the credit (but don't expect a refund of the unused credit).

Anything you purchase through the cruise planner prior to the cruise (e.g. drink packages, shore excursions, etc.) will be charge to your credit card at the time of purchase so they will not show up as an on-board charge and therefore you cannot use your on-board credit to pay for them. However, drinks (including drink packages) and excursions you purchase while onboard will be an on-board charge to which you can apply your credit. So why pre-purchase? You might be able to get a better deal on a drink package pre-cruise, and the shore excursions you want might already be full if you wait until onboard. As firegal2539 says, you shouldn't have any trouble burning through $300 on-board.

I am hoping that the OBC can also be applied to the standard gratuities charged per day. Is that true?
