Where to stay and how to get to Port Canaveral

Doing a cruise out of Port Canaveral for the first time. Most of our cruising has been out of Ft Lauderdale or Alaska. Looking to fly in two days ahead of time as we will be arriving into Orlando around midnight. Was wondering what is a good place to stay around the airport. Have heard in the past people have concerns with accidents or being delayed on the highway in between Orlando airport and Port Canaveral. We haven't done urber or lift and have done taxi or shuttles in the past. Looking for suggestions. TIA

We are flying in from the UK the day before our cruise and after a 10 hour flight, don't fancy taking another journey over to Port Canaveral. So we've booked with a company called Go Port who will pick us up at Orlando airport, take us to the hotel nearby we have selected, pick us up early the following morning and take us right to the RC terminal and then bring us back to the airport on the morning we disembark.

I haven't used them before so can't really recommend them just yet but it is great to not have to worry about sorting these things out separately, plus the reviews are really good. Maybe check them out?

We are staying at a hotel near the airport.  There are many in all different price ranges.  Most if not all provide a shuttle from the airport.  We are staying at the Fairfield Inn for $143 for the night including the airport shuttle and a hot breakfast. The next morning, we are being picked up by Cruise Control Transportation, $20 per person one way.  They also have private shuttles if you prefer.

Port Canaveral is less than an hour from MCO. I would definitely grab an Uber to PC vs stay near the airport and go the next day. Lots of hotel options near the cruise terminal. We usually stay at the Residence Inn right across from the Port. They have a shuttle to the cruise in the AM.
