JohnH2526
Thank you for this fantastic forum, we just found it. We will be on the Liberty, February 20, Galveston, TX. 25 days till cruise. My travel advisor said that the drink price would be at it's lowest about 30 days out, and it was at $52 day/person at 35 days out, but has risen to $56 (25% off original price), does anyone know if the price normally drops later before the cruise? wordell1
Recent prices have been higher than pre-covid. The best advice is to buy if it is at an acceptable price and then reprice it if it drops. To reprice it, just cancel the 1st order and rebuy it. woodman1
Pattycruise
I've never seen prices drop so close to any cruise I've sailed on. Book at whatever price, you can cancel and rebook immediately *up until 2 days prior than sailing, that's when cruise planner closes down. iluvwineandtravel, woodman1 and cruisellama

I'm afraid your travel advisor gave you incorrect information. There's no pattern at all to the drink package prices. My advice is to book as soon as you know you want the drink package to lock in the price. If the price goes down later, you can cancel and rebook the drink package with no penalty and then instantly rebook under lower price. If prices goes up, you already locked in the lower price. recogneyes
Anything under $60 is something I would jump on. We have one that is priced at $88 and went down to $69 - still too high IMO. Swar
I am so glad that we don't need the drink package anymore. We get Prime/free drinks whenever the Casino is open. By early March we will be Diamond and get 4 drink tickets /day each. The money we save goes toward the Casino, shore excursions, and specialty dining. Gambling is not for everyone, but if you are going to do more than a few cruises a year, it is a thought to keep in mind. I made Prime on a 3 day and a 4 day cruise in total and pretty much broke even $$$. JohnH2526 and WAYNO
San Diego Garrett
I got really lucky. About a month before or Thanksgiving Navigator cruise the DBP dropped to $44/day and $49/day with Zoom. vackman
We're cruising in March and purchased our drink package on Black Friday for $61, when I just checked it priced at $66 today. The biggest discount I've seen or received the last few years has been 30% off.

I set a $400 gambling limit for my cruises and can't make it past 400 points and I usually play the slots each night. I also win pretty decently, not so much on mariner, but I usually come out even or ahead. But not so much I can make prime.
LCWind
You get 1 point for every $5 bet in the slot machine. It may be you just have to spend more time on the machines to generate more points. It usually takes me around 3 sailings to reach 2500 points and get prime status. Swar
It is not how much you win or lose, it is how much you bet. Generally, it is 1 point for every 5 dollars spent on slots.

Ampurp85
I know for a fact it's 1 point for every $5. Not 5 points for every dollar. So basically $100 is only 20 points. I was playing more than $1 a spin and still have reached no more than 400 points. You are winning and losing so whatever amount you spend is over that. rcldeceit
RCL offers 50% off second guest for deluxe drink package for Wonder April sailing. But when you try to buy it the dollar charged amount is no where the discount advertised. Try it yourself. When questioned, they offer some non-sensical lip service of course. The deceit is relentless.
recogneyes
On my sailings it specifically states that the price advertised includes the discount ... the price showing is discounted by 25%....so not really 50% off second guest but 25% off of both. Is that maybe what yours is showing too?
BigL
Can you cancel the DBP if you decide after purchasing that you don't want it? Or can you only rebook at a lower price?

You have to figure out the price you are willing to pay to hit prime and set that as your gambling budget for the entire year. You can't walk away when you are up a lot and take the winnings. You have to push the winnings through the machine to rack up the points. 400 points is equal to $2000 put through the machine. If you hit that number of points on a $400 budget that's effectively playing with $1600 of someone else's money. Ampurp85

JohnH2526
Thank you ALL soo much for the help. I used Matts advise. reserved our drinks at $56/day/person AND TODAY, 23 days to go, it dropped to 30%off and I cancelled the order and bought for $52/day/person. And on a side note, Mary and I will be married on 2/22/22, in Cozumel MX and will be swimming with the dolphins. We had custom made Life Jackets, hers in white with a veil attached, and mine is black with Tux Tails attached to the back and a bow tie.. Should have some fantastic photos. Thank you again. Nate Y
I recently got, maybe singed rather than burned, on buying my drink package because I waited for black friday. The price only went up $3 per person per day since I started tracking it and only continues to trend upward as our cruise approaches. Take Matt's advice, buy it immediately, check it periodically, and if it goes down, cancel it and rebook it.
Michelle Barker
Do you get the souvenir cup (to use at the soda stations) when you have the deluxe alcoholic beverage package? Or is the deluxe beverage package solely for alcohol?

They don't give them to you in your rooms if you pre-purchase but you ask for one at any bar when you board and they'll get you one.

The only reason I can think of is that the package has sold out.

MichaelU
My wife and I cruised on Odyssey back in December did the deluxe package total was 704 for 6 nights. Now for our at the end of November on Odyssey all I see is the buy one get 50% off deal which is what they use to have on the ship when the cruise started. I guess Royal is trying to get their revenue in the green to report to shareholders? Still at those prices to me it’s expensive. Just hope there will be better deals in the coming months. $88 a day and then with the discount it’s $65 a day. I remember when it was $65 a day before the discount. Inflation couldn’t have made the package go up this much?
roybthered
We are on Odyssey of the Seas from Rome on 28th Sept and have just purchased the Deluxe Drinks package for £39 = $51, this seams like a really good deal for us Brits as it is normally quite expensive. So happy with that price. PPPJJ-GCVAB, WAAAYTOOO and KristiZ

There's a deal on currently for the deluxe package on European sailings, we got the same for our sailing on Anthem but had to call Royal, it wasn't available on the cruise planner. Shame we couldn't get it for our summer sailing on Explorer, that's currently £50 ($67), more expensive than pre sale!!
