Nassau Atlantis

Hi everyone,

We've just booked a 4 night Bahama cruise for this August, going to Nassau, CocoCay and Grand Bahama Island. Currently looking at shore excursions, and for Nassau we would love to visit Atlantis- but there is no option to book this through Royal Caribbean.

Has anyone ever independently organised to go to Atlantis from the cruise port and is it doable/worth it? The cruise is scheduled to arrive there at 9am and depart at 6pm, so we would probably only be there from 9.30am-3.30pm/4pm.

Thanks:)

This is just pure speculation, but I believe Atlantis may have temporarily "banned"/disallowed cruise ship excursions/access to the resort due to Covid. I'm assuming they want to limit access to the resort for their own paying guests.

My wife and I had booked the dolphin encounter and water park excursion for our OCT 2021 Oasis sailing, but it was cancelled and all other Atlantis excursions were pulled immediately from the Cruise Planner at that time. No explanation provided. They also do not appear in the CP for our upcoming FEB 2022 Odyssey sailing.

Once again, just speculation on my part! I do not know if you can just show up on your own at this time (in the current climate)... maybe contact the resort directly to get a definitive answer before planning any visit.

Our previous experience a few years ago was one that we will not do it again. At that time, tours of Atlantis was an excursion of Nassau (which sucked) and of the front of Atlantis where we had less than an hour to "tour".  The tour guide told us where the casinos were as well as the aquarium and advised us NOT to ask any of the staff where anything is located as Atlantis is ONLY for the paying guests and if you are not a paying guest you will have to leave. Needless to say, we got off the tour bus, found a bathroom and a place to buy a couple of drinks and back on the bus. Like I said, this was a few years ago and things may have changed. Check out trip advisor and see what comments are there.  😎

My wife and did the 3 day Nassau Bahamas cruise out of Miami on July 22nd on the Freedom of the seas ship. We purchased the Best of Nassau City & Paradise Island shore excursion ahead of time mainly to tour the Atlantis resort. It was $49 per person.  It turns out that due to Covid-19, the resort now only allows hotel patrons to enter the hotel itself. Tour guests are no longer allowed inside. There was no mention of this in the description on the Royal caribbean site. It was told to us while we were on the van after the tour started. We were disappointed this wasn't mentioned as the Atlantis part was the reason why we purchased the excursion. We had to wait in the hot sun for the tour company to get a van to pick us up. The tour guide Vance was great and informative. It wasn't his fault so we didn't take it out on him. He did a great job. Beware if you do this excursion thinking you will see the inside of the hotel and the grounds.

We booked a day pass at Atlantis a few years ago through Royal Caribbean. We would never do it again. As part of our package, we were given a yellow wristband to wear for access. Literally every worker at the resort took one look at the yellow wristband and ignored us. It was surreal - it turned into a running joke. It was not a good day.
