27th Lady
Hello! My family and I are Canadian and have a cruise booked at the end of January. The Canadian government still requires a PCR test within 3 days for re-entry to Canada. Does anyone have suggestions for Rapid PCR testing in Orlando. Looking at CVS and Walgreens it looks like their regular PCR testing is having some delays and we are worried about the 72 hour window for test turnaround. I know about the site at the airport, but was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions. Thanks in advance for your help!
AshleyDillo
Canada accepts the RT-LAMP and the NAAT test for entry back to Canada. https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/flying-canada-checklist/covid-19-testing-travellers-coming-into-canada Switch Health offers a RT-LAMP test kit that you can purchase before your cruise and bring with you. It requires connection to the internet in order to take the test. https://switchhealth.ca/en/partners/aeroplan/#collectionKits Walgreens offers the Abbott ID-NOW test which is NAAT and it would be accepted for re-entry. You have to schedule in advance at Walgreens for an appointment. The results every time I've taken this test have come back within an hour. 27th Lady, Jax and Lovetocruise2002
Lovetocruise2002
Just keep in mind that the Switch Health option works great if you are flying back to Canada but if you return via the land border, that Switch Health option might not work. CBSA requires the return test to be done in the US if returning via the land border and I have no clue what address the Switch Health results document might have. Jax
We had friends that recently returned from MCO and they went with a cheaper/free testing option. Unfortunately their test results were not back in time; resulting in the additional cost of rescheduling flights, additional hotel stay and the need to retest. Availability at MCO airport doesn’t look good but Fast Test Now looks like they have availability. We just returned 2 weeks ago from MCO and both the airport and Fast Test Now were our Plan B in the event of a flight delay/cancellation and the need to retest. https://fasttestnow.as.me/orlando?_gl=1*117gts4*_gcl_aw*R0NMLjE2NDIwNDUxNTUuQ2p3S0NBaUFsZnFPQmhBZUVpd0FZaTQzRjJsTWdvUHVVaUczOE15RmhQWVJWTmkzanNwTGZyMHk1Rk9YVHdfaUY1YndzZnh5TzhDM1BSb0MweG9RQXZEX0J3RQ.. jack168
Canada allows NAAT tests as well. They have a slower turnaround than rapid, but it's faster than PCR. So, keep that in mind. (CVS and Walgreens both offer NAATs)
27th Lady
Thanks so much! We bought the Switch health tests, I like the idea of being able to do it virtually from our hotel. Thanks everyone for your suggestions!! Jax
