TickledBlue
Just got the following email for an upcoming Jan. cruise: Updated mask protocols for departures through January 31, 2022 With the recent uptick of COVID-19 in the world and added Omicron variant concerns, we feel it prudent to temporarily tighten our onboard health protocols to require masks indoors at all times, unless actively eating or drinking. This new update also applies to vaccinated areas and venues. Lastly, in alignment with the updated mask policy, smoking will also not be permitted in the casino for all cruises departing on or before January 31, 2022. We're sorry for any disappointment that this may cause, but hope you understand that health and safety come first. Despite the new requirement, we know you will still have a great time onboard. For full protocol details, please click here. As always, health and safety protocols are subject to change. If you have questions about these protocols, please reference our FAQs for details or contact us at 1 (866) 562-7625 or 541-285-9150 for assistance. If you prefer to not sail as a result of this change or would like to reschedule your cruise, we are glad to assist. Looking forward to seeing you onboard! RTMcruiser
It states "indoors at all times" but does not say except when in your cabin that previous have stated. I assume they omitted that in error?
twangster
With the extended mask policy I may need to take up smoking so I can't visit the casino. ChrisK2793, JC Pats, SpeedNoodles and 5 others 1
Va4fam
We got the same email today. Not a big surprise.
tonyfsu21
While RC tightens the mask policy on the ship, the tour operators in Mexico tell you “you can take your mask off on the bus once you leave the port, Tequila!”. I really think the issue will be a weak link somewhere else. Swar
CrimsonCruiser
Not even a little surprised. 2-ish weeks seemed too short with the way cases were climbing. They would have had to start declining almost the day after Royal decided to make this change in order for the 5th to be viable.

Swar
No mask in cabins unless u like it. Lol The only real difference I see is no smoking in casino and mask on in gym. Everything else is a "finger drill " CrimsonCruiser and jticarruthers 1
Tar
Is the mask policy as strict as the airlines or can you have it off indoors as long as you are seated with a drink and/or food?
