RCL had come out with the "temporary" mask mandate for cruises through Jan 5 for all locations, including vaccinated.  I'm guessing the update will come out soon?  I'm wondering if they will add any other changes too.

I peeked at the protocols for San Juan and it said that the mask policy is through Jan 31.  Im sure they are prepping more emails

UPDATED MASK PROTOCOLS

Due to the latest public health evaluation, we have extended our latest mask protocol to sailings departing on or before January 31, 2022, at which point it will be reevaluated. The policy remains the same and requires all guests to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status, at all times indoors except while eating or drinking. This includes at venues reserved for vaccinated guests only. In alignment with the expansion of the mask policy, smoking will not be permitted in the casino for all cruises departing on or before January 31, 2022.

I've never smoked in my life and I am very concerned the new smoke free casino may be too hard to resist.  I'm running out to buy cigarettes.

If I get addicted by my cruise I won't be able to use the casino.  Think of the money I'll save.

But don't you get free cruises from the casino?...

Royal Caribbean International has extended its face mask policy through the end of January for guests sailing on the brand's ships.

In an email sent to booked guests, the Miami-based cruise line cited the Omicron variant and said "it prudent to temporarily tighten our onboard health protocols to require masks indoors at all times, unless actively eating or drinking. This new update also applies to vaccinated areas and venues. Lastly, in alignment with the updated mask policy, smoking will also not be permitted in the casino for all cruises departing on or before January 31, 2022."

The new protocols were put in place in December as worries about the Omicron Variant grew.
