Linda Ball
We were on the Serenade of the Seas Western Caribbean 7 day cruise from 12/24-12/31. We were informed toward the end our our cruise that we were unable to dock at Costa Maya due to "rough seas." During our cruise several familiar crew members began to become m.i.a. and their absences were contributed to "headaches" or "returning soon". Which they did not. Needless to say, we are presently staying home for 5 days to be cautious. Does anyone have any info about the ships COVID status?
Matt
Rough seas is not an uncommon reason for not being able to dock. Costa Maya's dock is quite rough since it's open ocean (unlike Cozumel which is in a channel) Baked Alaska and Linda Ball 1

Had we been trying to dock at that time, our ship would probably have had to skip Costa Maya. Linda Ball

gomammoth22
We were at Costa Maya a week ago on Oasis - no issues with disembarking and by that point all shows had been cancelled and they had already mentioned the positivity rate was higher than 1%. There were pretty serious waves too. I recall the ship being pounded and you could see the MSC & NCL ships getting it even worse.
foxrunner
On Allure December 2020 we couldn't get into Costa Maya because the NCL ship was pinned against the dock by waves. We cruised right up to the port and you could see the waves crashing on the ship. It was a rough sea day with the pools and tubs splashing over. My wife is prone to motion sickness and we stayed topside which worked out for her with some meds. We did our 4 mile walk on the track and it felt more like 5 with all the stumbling, note no booze yet that day. WAAAYTOOO
