question: Would this avoid the mask policy if someone walks around the ship with a drink in their hands?

Just an honest question.. I wouldn't do that, plus my wife doesn't drink..   so  lol.

With the way things are going now I am sure they would ask you to wear your mask while you are walking with your drink. Sitting and drinking shouldn't be a problem.

Last month, we did not have an issue with walking around sipping drinks. This month, they want you sitting down. However, walking around the casino, drink in hand, seems ok. It all depends on who cares. The crew is bending over backwards to make the experience a great one. Their are always a few who will beat a dead horse and ruin it for the majority.

Another drink tip...my wife and I often ask for bottles of Pellegrino and Red Bull as we head back to to our room even if we don't want them that moment so we can stock our fridge. It's nice to always have a small supply in your room fridge at the ready.

We always do this as well.  Although we never bother putting them in the fridgenotafridge.

We did this on Allure. I often get thirsty at night, so it is nice to open fridge and get a cold bottle of something.
