Neesa
Captain just announced via the intercom in our room some fully vaccinated crew has tested positive for Covid 19 and have been quarantined. He did not disclose the number. The weekly testing of crew revealed this he stated. They are canceling shows going forward and contact tracing. We stop in Curacao tomorrow, it will be interesting to see if they let us still visit. While there is no smoking in the casino everything on board seems normal, the suite concierge is missing since last night fingers crossed she isn't a positive case. Otherwise, everything else is packed with little social distancing. My line dancing class yesterday had us tripping over each other. 270 every table in use, making the most of our Holiday sailing. On another happier note I found two cruising ducks. They bring me joy. JohnK6404, Zurc, RWDW1204 and 10 others 9 1

cbnsoul
Just sailed on Odyssey over Thanksgiving. Interested to hear what, if anything, happens. Thanks for the info and please post any updates.
RedRambler
Scheduled to board Odyssey on Jan 2nd, will be our first cruise since March 2020 cancellation of last cruise. Definitely interested in any updates you can give as your cruise progresses. Maybe you can settle a quarrel between my wife and I. Mask on or off in the solarium? I say its indoor space so yes if your not in the water, she disagrees.
Neesa
Will do, we went to a concert that wasn't canceled and there seemed while the theater was normal capacity the Deck 5 walkway and the Music Hall had noticeably less people and everyone but one passenger was wearing their mask properly. Tomorrow I'm scheduled for North Star and I Fly, tomorrow night The Book in 270. Fingers crossed but I am in a 2 bedroom grand with a huge balcony, any cancelations tomorrow I'll be out there still counting my blessings. ( when we returned to Port Everglades night 2 we were told it was a Covid positive passenger and his family.)

We were only in there briefly and kept our masks on but seem to recall others had them off. Neesa
Neesa
@RedRambler hope you didn't bet anything to big, at least up until today the Solarium area allows for mask off, as soon as you walk in mask off unless going into the cafe. Your wife is correct so far, I won't tell her if you don't. Lol!! I'll post if it changes. Swar

Hey, we are booked on the 12/26 sailing as well. Our family is pretty vacation starved right now and our position is if the ship sails we will be on it - regardless of the restrictions. Making that decision has helped put some of our anxiety at bay. Our policy is to make the most of whatever we can get. Assuming it was booked to 100% capacity I wonder what actual capacity will be when she sails. What is the mood of your crew RFSDVM? Are you also committed to going if she sails? smokeybandit
This is the issue with Omicron. Rapid spread but mild if any actual illness. One study that just came out found that Omicron reproduces a lot faster in your airway, but a lot slower in your lungs. That makes total sense in why more and more people are testing positive but feeling fine. Just gotta wait it out. Based on other countries' data, it's a quick hit. No slow onramp or slow offramp. Just a big but brief wham. teddy

Frankly we have made contingency flight reservations for Sunday out of FLL. we have not canceled the second leg of our B2B yet but if things go downhill regarding the ships ability to visit ports we will probably cancel. We are not impressed with the ship overall and it’s really too crowded to even enjoy the solarium pool and hot tubs, even if there were NO port stops allowed next week. a few hours ago we were cool with staying on for the second week but now seriously considering our options. columbus_cruiser
Neesa
@Clover18 so we have just been told 52 positive cases, 3 passengers and the rest crew. The crew is still upbeat but we have been restricted by the health authorities and we are not allowed off the ship in Curacao and most likely not allowed off tomorrow either. Now we are waiting to see if they will cut this sailing short. The pool deck and solarium are standing room only. Will update when we know. Captain is wonderful, very transparent. Our excursion from today has been refunded, no showgirls shows at all this sailing. We are staying positive because we are healthy and in the beautiful warm weather! Going to look for more ducks!! Neesa
North Star was great, only one person in our group of 10 "lost it" because he had to go into the ball with the 9 of us, 10 in total. Grown man lost control, spewing verbal tirade because he wanted the ball for himself. We were made to sanitize hands and properly wear masks, felt fine. Really a beautiful vision of the Island. ChuckyBost
We boarded a Celebrity Cruise in Oct and there were 15% capacity which was great, but I understand that this cannot happen too many times. Every business needs to make money. I didn’t expect RC sold out to 100% capacity on Odyssey last week and next two weeks. I rather pay more money and cruise at 60-70% capacity to play safe. Finance and management are always the cause to look good and play with fire. sammy79, MamaShark and Neesa
D Alt
Do you think RC will refund a portion of your money due to all these changes? not just the port fees, which should be done regardless, but the whole experience has been lessened. I think RC needs to rethink the capacities again. I don't know why they rushed into increasing capacities in the middle of winter. This is when people get sick. And then you have all the holidays where people get together. keep it at a lower capacity and wait until end of January to start increasing things. GatorCruiser
I’m not sure how much capacity will matter right now with omicron seemingly this contagious. We made it thru the summer delta surge Without it translating into cases on the ships. It would appear that the next several weeks are going to be rough for positive cases on the ships. Just so annoying when we had just got back up an running. My wife and I were just on the 8 day odyssey sailing from 12/4-12/12 and we really feel like we dodged a bullet in terms of the cruise being Adversely affected by Covid cases.
