jaygee2729
Our next RCC cruise is on February 13th from Puerto Rico aboard Explorer of the Seas. Since we have to travel from California my hope is that the testing requirements don't become MORE stringent. Three days prior would work for us. However anything more restrictive i.e. 2 or 1 day prior is a problem.
Matt
Honestly, slim to none are the odds of a cancellation. Protocols worked, the lines have plans with ports and CDC. This is all planned for, and even Symphony went about her next sailing as scheduled. jticarruthers, SebagoSue, Baked Alaska and 5 others 6 1

We sail in 6 days and my wife just asked me after reading the morning headlines if we were still going. I told her yes given all the protocols. I added with the new bonus (to us…obviously not to all) that there will be no smoking in the casino. I think what will be interesting is if this weeks sailings see similar rates that Symphony did or less. jaygee2729
BrianB
I agree that the protocols work. Along with the fact that the vast majority of vaccinated guests who get the virus seem primarily asymptomatic and discovered during contact tracing. The medical facilities are not stressed and the following cruises still sail. The major distinction (on land and onboard) is between the number of positives vs the number of people requiring medical intervention. In my opinion, that distinction seems to be purposely obscured so as to increase the perception of danger in the effort to get more people vaccinated. I still think cruising is safe and will continue to sail...with whatever healthy sail protocols are in place now or in the future. It's my choice. Ampurp85
I doubt any cruises will be cancelled. At most protocols changes or restrictions will happen. I think the hope of 100% capacity on the holiday sailings will not be actualized. I also think the hope of being at capacity in the summer will also have to be adjusted. Alanf
I’m not in fear of our 12/31 Anthem cruise being cancelled. We had our last 2 bookings cancelled during pandemic so cant wait to get back onboard! What I fear most is the at home antigen test results on 12/29 Michigan Mom and Baked Alaska 1
Flopper
I’m really interested to see what’s happening on odyssey right now. Of Covid is running through the crew as some people have said I could see them shelving it for two weeks. Royal caribbean has already taken some sailings (mine on January 2nd) off of their website and TA sites today. We are currently being denied disembarkation, awaiting the Prime Minister‘s “press conference“ before they let us off. The captain said we need to wait about an hour until we hear more from the health authorities. It sounds like a great opportunity to pass the buck to the government of Curaçao rather than make the decision not to let us go ashore from the RCI team. If they do let us ashore, it will probably be vaccinated passengers only. As much as the merchants in the city of Willemstad would like to see the increase of 5000 people buying their products, I’m sure the government doesn’t want to take the risk. Fingers crossed that they will let us go ashore. The busses are out here waiting… Neesa, CruiseGus and WAAAYTOOO 1

D Alt
port cancellations seems to be what we need to worry about now, unless RC scrambles to have some backups on tap. Neesa
Ampurp85
I wonder if it will be multiple stops to PDCC, since most ports aren't allowing ships with C19-infected pax to disembark. Personally, I won't mind if all my January sailings only visit PDCC.

So, I hate the media reporting on this yes, there are positives but how many people are really on this ship? How many people are healthy because like them or not their actions/protocols seem to be working. If cruising soon just know and accept its going to be different. If you are stressed about missing things like shows and ports then pass. But if you can roll with just sitting on your balcony in the sunshine and warm breezes, listening to the ocean by all means, do it! The Fox
I have been following the number of rooms available on the Jan 30 sailing of Oasis. Yesterday there were 97 available ocean view balcony rooms. Today there were 147 ocean view balcony rooms. All other categories are virtually the same. Did RC just open these rooms up for booking? I find that kind of strange. Any thoughts?

I don't think anyone knows the answer to this question but my guess is the answer is "no". I cannot see Royal offering up any new cabins with all of the COVID issues that are going on. I thought I had read that they had closed off all cruises to new bookings for the next few weeks. Not sure that went as far out as 1-30-22 though. We were originally booked on this cruise (OA 1-30-22) but cancelled (along with 2 other Oasis January sailings) a few weeks back. As far as I know, our suite (Star Loft) never came back on the market. I figured they were going to just hold it for RoyalUp. Who knows ? While many folks I know are testing positive for Omicron where I live (West Tennessee), nobody who is jabbed up is being hospitalized or dying from this variant. There are many positive signs that this virus is becoming endemic. As Matt indicated in today's blog update, the situation on sailings this past week were all very manageable. I plan to test on Jan 1 so we know we're cleared before leaving home. After an unsuccessful search for a local testing site that will be open on New Year's Day, I ordered RCL's at home kits. We're completely vaccinated and boostered, but I know several people who got breakthrough COVID. Three family members will be at home between Christmas and New Year's, but 1 works in retail and 1 in a restaurant. They're the ones I worry about getting exposed before we leave.
