IMHO it’s time RC starts adding designated smoking lounges completely closed off much like the cigar bars of the past. The smoking area on the pool deck is out of place where it is. At a minimum they should have set it up in a less trafficked area and away from all the kids running around by the pool. The walkers, breathing apparatus and smoke plumes are unpleasant at best.

Agree.  I am constantly having to backtrack and walk on the other side.  So many times I am not thinking about it, walk out of the solarium and boom.  In your face smoke.  Ugh.  Back in and over to the other side.

Like airports that have walled off smoking areas with doors so they can exhaust the air outside and keep it from the terminal.

There's one of these on Anthem, outside Deck 4/5 on the port side. An enclosed glass area just for smokers.

There's another smoking area on Anthem next to the hot tubs right at the entrance to the indoor pool, and it's a constant wall of smoke when you enter/exit. It was a real pain every time we went in and out.

I mean realistically what revenue is the Bulgari/Cartier store bringing in? My neighbor was a T&Co executive and as I understand it there is a good reason they yanked all the stores off the ships. How about a cigar/smoking lounge with a Havana style bar? Smoke in comfort and isolation. Everyone wins.

Sell it as a pass in the Cruise Planner. Joking. Really. Really?

Cigar lounge is actually not the worst revenue generating idea. But I'm certain that the cigar smokers would also not want cigarettes disrupting the cigar aroma.

This is true but every cigar lounge I’ve ever been too has been a mix of cigar and cigarette smoke so this wouldn’t be any different. It’s all about the ventilation. Personally I would spend top dollar for a good quality cigar and a nice drink to go with it. Royal could be missing out here solving multiple issues with one venue.

Didn't the Freedom Class just get RID of all of its cigar bars ?

On the Anthem they opened a new smoking area outside on deck 5. Two decks up from the casino. Inconvenient yes, but closer than the pool deck on deck 14.

Is it a new area different than the one near Vintages?  If it is the one near Vintages, that has always been there but not a lot of people know about it.

I assume the purpose of the smoking ban is to force all to mask up.

However, by their own rule, when I sit down in the casino with a drink in hand, I can drop my mask.

Logically, the next step is to ban drinking.

The next logical step for RCI is to eliminate casinos totally.  Smoking, drinking, gambling…GONE!

Banning eating is going to be the difficult task.

I corrected my original comment. I was under the impression they were going to designate another area outside on dec 5 forward...closer to the casino. But no...they were referring to the outdoor, glass-enclosed smoking area already present on deck 5 starboard side aft. Sorry..

Smokers used to have rights.  Seems the mask rules weren't enough.

Now they think they are going to make me go all the way to the top of the ship to grab a cig?  Royal C won't get another penny from this Diamond member and Premier Casino Royale member.

All the money they waste on water slides you figure the geniuses could figure out how to put a smoking bar in.

The last place on the ship that smokers could actually relax and smoke INSIDE, is now gone because of a virus with a 99.5% survival rate??

I will miss sitting up in the small area on the pool deck with all of the smokers jammed in having a good time, watch the idiots walking by complaining about the smoking  (other side of the ship morons).

The casino smoking ban expires on Wednesday.

With the option to extend.  We are on the maiden voyage of the Wonder on 3/4.  Hoping RCL gets their act together.

Would be fine with a smoking lounge like they used to have.  Need to accommodate everyone.

They don't NEED to accommodate smokers.  Smokers are banned from many places on land with no loss of revenue.  They will be banned everywhere eventually including cruise ships.  You're welcome to disagree but that won't change the eventual outcome.

I'm not a smoker.  In fact, I've never taken a puff... not once in my 56 years.  I hate the smell of smoke and that it gets in my clothes and hair (what little I have left).

However, smokers and drinkers, and to an extent casino goers are the easiest people to tax. Politicians across the country take advantage of these people by hiking taxes on their vice and rolling like pigs in a trough in the money they raise and then continuously restricting where and when they can use the products.

I like the move by RCCL.  Banning smoke will cost them some customers, but will gain them others.  Whatever cruise line doesn't ban smoking will gain smoking customers, but lose non smokers to RCCL.  I'm not sure I agree with the last minute change.  I don't think that's an appropriate way to treat a customer.

Well I am a smoker but am OK with this ban (although I would prefer an alcohol ban.. the smell of it makes my stomach turn) but to each their own. I have no issues with this cause I spend way more in casino than the cruise cost me so is good for me. I get to sit outside more which is a good thing.

Park MGM in Las Vegas is completely smokeless, it's also one of the busiest, so it's not messing with profits. Can't tell you how nice it is going back at the end of the night not stinking of smoke and having bloodshot eyes

I stayed at The Park in Vegas recently and loved they had no smoking.  One reason I booked rooms there.
