Dinner tonight was in Coastal Kitchen. The filet is never to be missed. It was so good that Ken had to finish mine as I paced myself to make it to dessert, the warm apple pie a little mode. Ken finished that too.  And he is in Heaven because his favorite after dinner drink, Grand Marnier neat, is available in the suite restaurant.1045A86B-95AB-4FFC-A211-76163795C0DA.thumb.jpeg.9d9d9ceadc38228ce1d02a5167bb6ea1.jpeg

Some anecdotes from the day: boarding was late, and general boarding a zoo. A couple reasons were bandied about:

1. The medical evac in Key West yesterday evening caused a bit of delay in the ship arriving back to Miami.

2.  A B2B CC member posted that there were a couple of passengers who couldn’t be found (to leave) and security had to hunt them down.  I envision two people hiding out from security, moving from location to location like a bad Three Stooges skit.

We also had the normal refusal of some to go to e-muster. 🙄 E-muster was the first thing we did to get it done. As the afternoon passed, the CD’s tone got more and more irritated. Ken said he was waiting for him to start cussing like a potty-mouthed parrot. 😂 Not sure what would be a good solution to this situation, but maybe they should start calling out names and cabins. 🤷🏻‍♀️

When the ship arrived later than usual this morning the captain didn’t turn the ship around to save time, so we got the pleasure of spinning around in the basin as we sailed away.  We also saw the fireworks from the last night of the arts festival in Miami. So imagine sailing away seeing the beautiful sunset, the skyline of Miami, and the fireworks in the background, all while seated in Coastal Kitchen having an amazing meal. If that isn’t a great beginning to a cruise, I don’t know what is.

I remember our cruise many many years ago with our two oldest who were then eight and six.  Our assigned table mates were a family of four.  The parents were heavy drinkers.  Last morning we could not debark because our mother table mate  had not shown up to customs - they were from a different country.  An hour went by with constant, “Would so and so please report.”  My daughter and I were walking down a passenger hallway and saw our female table mate passed out on her “made up”  bed.  My daughter went to get her husband.  Husband came to the room and slapped  her face.  She woke up.  She was already drunk!  It was hard talking to my daughter about what she just saw!

How awful. 🙁

Docking a Cococay.  I can’t believe Ken got up and walked 2 miles with me, but he did. I’m sure it is because it is my birthday. 😂 I expect him to sleep in some the rest of this week. It will be interesting to see if another ship docs here today, because of the Labadee cancellations.ADEEA9E8-E379-4115-BAEC-8CD7E527A57D.thumb.jpeg.161a5e2005c25f0c1647649593d21d76.jpeg

Not as big as our master shower at home, but is def a step up from all cabins we have ever stayed in. 🙂  We designed our shower at home, and we joke that if we put a disco ball in it, we could have a dance party for our friends. 😁

I hadn't heard about a medical evac on Oasis from last trip.  Any idea how they managed this at KW since they no longer accept [big] cruise ships ?

I am making note of the number of medical emergencies that the ships seem to be having recently.  I think there will be more and more....

They used a helicopter to medevac the person. At least that’s what passengers on the ship said they were going to do. And I agree with you, seems to be more, and more frequently. 😢

For those who have said that the water in the pool at the beach club is cold, those guys must be from Florida. 😂

it feels great! Ken had to be coaxed in, but once he got below chest level, he was good. It was kind of entertaining for those laying in loungers watching him. 😂

I was able to coax others in as well. It is currently a beautiful day. And occasional cloud like right now (thank goodness for the umbrella), but it’s a great day at Cococay!

I have thought about doing this on pretty much every cruise. I'm convinced I could get away with it with some well placed tips to some crew members.

We were the very, very, very last passengers off one of our cruises because DH had to answer a last-minute call of nature and then got lost on the way to the gangway - where the rest of us were all standing with red faces while they called and and called and called for the last remaining passenger! 🤣

Sounds like something that would happen to my Ken. 😂

Today, when we got a cup of coffee in the suite lounge, I was wished a happy birthday.  When we checked in to confirm our lunch reservation at the Beach Club, I was wished a happy birthday. Our server at the restaurant wished me one too. When we got back to our cabin, I found this. I don’t advertise my birthday, and had not mentioned it to any of them, but RCI staff is amazing in their attentiveness. ❤️

So far it has been a great birthday, and hands down is so much better than the large plastic lobster plopped on my cousin Mary’s head at Red Lobster when her (now ex -is it any wonder) husband lied and told them it was her birthday so he could get a free dessert. 🙄 5F2BEEE6-8CAE-40C4-9FC3-C105E1FEDBC7.thumb.jpeg.05a939c030f588bc52ba48c37dd617e9.jpeg

Happy Birthday 🎂

The sail away views from CK were always amazing. I am glad you are having a wonderful time. I also love how attentive the crew are.

When we were on Allure, we heard so many announcements about people not doing EMuster. I could hear it in the captain's voice how frustrated he was. I think at like 5pm, sail away was at 7pm, there were still almost 350 pax who hadn't completed it.

So tonight was a fail. I failed to get photos of anything except my beet salad. Well, that and Ken’s soup. Siri heard me say canned soup. I had to correct the AI. I think that mistranslation is quite funny for 150 CP. 🤣

I personally think we should go back before the cruise is over. Now to convince Ken of that.  I am willing to sacrifice for you guys. Here’s my measly (yet yummy tasting) salad photo. Oh yeah, that and the excellent  bread, half eaten. And of course Ken’s aforementioned “canned” soup. Sigh. Did I say I had two stellar garden martinis as well? No photos of those either. This is truly a tragedy.

The lack of photos makes me really, really sad.  (Laying it on thick for Ken. Do you think it’s working?) 5CF59E4F-08D5-4C05-B574-E8A0DD130FA5.thumb.jpeg.2fd9273ac9cde8b0daccd486f50b71be.jpeg3CF288E0-CC9B-4689-B240-A25108B1DBAE.thumb.jpeg.33dd8712a7602ef015b06e838e6f3dc4.jpeg8A93F623-4B34-4E8D-BFB5-8B93DCAC15F9.thumb.jpeg.b4a993f29654538ec3cd691a2ddff665.jpeg
