mhart8400
We have booked a Celebrity Cruise to the Mediterranean in June 2022. The agent mentioned that some ports are requiring that passengers have excursions booked through the cruise line in order to get off the ship. Has anyone had any experience with this. We don't usually book through the Cruise Line. cruisellama

We don't usually book through the Cruise Line. That was the case on my Caribbean cruise for 2 of the 3 ports. That said, by June 2022, the rules will be different in some form to include the ports requiring excursions. "Required excursions" ports were based on Covid positivity rates, so they change periodically. Hopefully by June none will be. That said, I would still consider the excursions, there are usually some good ones. cruisellama

We don't usually book through the Cruise Line. We're also sailing from Rome (Civitavecchia) on a 10-day June 3rd. We had substantial OBC and booked all excursions (1 at each port) through Celebrity. (Just in anticipation of continued restrictions, and needed to burn down the OBC).
KathyC
Happily, restrictions are loosening every week. We are on Celebrity in January and received this in an email: "While visiting the Caribbean, on-your-own tours will be permitted in Costa Maya, Belize City, Cozumel, and Nassau. Please note, families touring with unvaccinated children may only go ashore on excursions provided by Celebrity Cruises." We are not bringing any unvaccinated children, so we are good to go on our own in every port. cruisellama
