I just purchased a cruise last week.  I can't apply the $100 OBC until my cruise is within the 1 year window, so mid-March.  Can I purchase the myvegas $100 credit now and wait to apply it in mid-March when it's within the 30 day rule and the 1-year rule?

See below. Apparently they extended the amount of time you have to redeem.

I don't think no is the right answer.  The timing is very critical here, and you may be able to get the OBC applied per the terms and conditions for the myVegas OBC reward.  The stipulations are that you have to

  1. Apply this reward to your cruise within 30 days of the purchase of the cruise -> If you purchased the cruise last week, for example Feb 15th, then you'd have until March 17th (30 days) to apply the reward to this cruise
  2. New reservation sail date must be within one year of reward redemption -> If you sail date is March 15th, 2023, then you could redeem this reward for that sailing starting on March 15th, 2022.

Depending on your sail date and the day you booked the cruise, you might have a small window where you can redeem this reward.

Yes I have a few days where it works!  But what if the myVEGAS OBcredits are sold out during those couple of days?  So can I buy it now and then apply it when I call in mid-March?  Thanks

You should purchase the reward now or whenever you see it available next. It doesn't expire for at least 30 days.

This topic has so much great information; thanks, all!

A few follow up questions, please:

Do you have to book directly with Royal Caribbean to be able to apply the $100 OBC?

Can my wife and I both get the $100 OBC applied or is it only one reward per stateroom?

I believe so, but I'm not 100% positive on that.

Only 1 myVegas reward per booking (stateroom). Even if you had different myVegas accounts.

Why does the $100 OBC terms & conditions say "reward must be used within 90 days of purchase". My sail date is June 5. Does it mean I need to wait until March 5 to purchase and redeem my reward?

No, that t&c section simply means you have 90 days from when you purchased the "reward" from myvegas to redeem it towards an eligible cruise.  Good luck.

The wording regarding redemptions for obc is so obtuse God himself may not be sure of the criteria. From what I read, you have to claim it pretty quickly after booking a cruise and then on top of that the cruise has to be within a specific period of time (often closer in than when I book cruises - I booked 2 in the last few days for Dec 2023, to understanding none of the onboard credits would even apply that far out). If someone has a version that makes sense, versus the “stoned lawyer” version online, please post it! 🤯

I called RC today to get my $100 OBC applied and he said because I booked through a travel agent I have to get it applied through them. Well my “travel agent” is just an online booking agent called RedTag, comparable to Expedia. I called but ended up getting accidentally hung up on after 2 hours of being on hold while he talked to the RC representative. Any way to see if it worked?  Any tips from you experienced cruisers to get this applied? Thanks!!

UPDATE: RedTag is on the phone with Royal and they are saying they’ve never heard of this code. So frustrating!  Has anyone encountered such a problem applying this to a booking before?

@MomtoARQI thought the terms stated that you had to book through RCCL in order to use the OBC from myvegas? I would be surprised if a TA would be able to apply it. I don't have a copy of the terms, but I recall they were pretty restrictive so we never redeemed points for it even though we have tons of points and they were available multiple times.

Yes it’s supposed to be a new booking but people have had success applying it if they only booked their cruise less than a month ago. Although my travel agent just got denied using the myVEGAS code today because they said it has to be within 2 weeks and I booked 3.5 weeks ago. So it might just depend on who you get on the phone.

To use these rewards, call the Club Royale number (I know, most of them are gone) during regular business hours.  They have, or at least had, a desk that was familiar with the MyVegas rewards that makes it a lot easier.  Many of the agents have no idea what you are talking about.

They had a my KONAMI group cruise a few days ago I snagged. 7 days Mexico out of LA on Navigator sailing Nov 11. They will have a swag bag, raffle, breakfast and shuttle from a nearby hotel, slot tournament, shore excursion in Cabo, etc. Only 500k pts. It might be sold out because I don't see it anymore.

I booked it, paid, and bought the unlimited dining package for $207+gratuities. I'm going to buy onboard credit to make it $1000 on my American Express card to get 25000 pts. The Amex offer expires 12/31/22. I'm going to get a cash refund of the OBC when onboard.

If you see a reward sold out you can try checking during the daily refresh times: https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/daily-myvegas-refresh-times.193384/

I bought $600 OBC through the gifts department via phone call and got the AMEX email confirming I've used the offer. Before getting there I was on the phone with a casino person and they asked if it was with a rewards credit card. They were trying to hint at something but didn't go right out and say it. I didn't even get the chance to answer before they just said oh you just want onboard credit. Anyways, this is my second time doing it with Royal. Take advantage of it while you still can.
