Windjammer Opens for Dinner on Oasis!

Recommended Posts

October 24…For the first time since the re-start, the Windjammer Buffet has opened for dinner on the Oasis of the Seas. The passenger count for this week’s cruise is finalized at 3,630. That’s almost 500 more guests than last week. Almost 1,600 more than just four weeks ago. For a ship that holds approximately 5,600 double occupancy…the numbers are rising steadily. Hopefully we keep moving forward…back to normal cruising once again!

I will be on for Thanksgiving week - It will be interesting to see how high it goes on a holiday week.

Were there any restrictions with regards to vaccinated vs those with unvaccinated in their group?

The Windjammer is for everyone. They request you use the app to make reservations but walk-ins are welcome if space is available. Very strict on ‘washy-washy’ at the sinks. They scan your card when you enter and when you leave so they can keep track of how many guests are inside. They will stop guests from entering if they reach the limit. Everyone must wear a mask while moving around but once seated with your party, you can unmask. When you’re finished and get up to leave, mask on. Tables are also spaced further apart and when that’s not possible, they put a ‘Reserved for Physical Distancing’ card on the table. And, of course, everything is served by crew members. They even have someone who hands you the plate and utensils when you walk in. The drinks are pre-poured so you only have to grab a glass. The condiment station is also manned by a crew member so you touch nothing. When you sit at a table, they turn over a sign that showed the table had been sanitized to the other side showing the table must remain empty after you leave until they sanitize it and turn the card over again. Very crew intensive.

BrianB's Windjammer report is accurate.  We were on the same Oasis sailing.   Only thing I can add is that the WJ was hoppin' every time we went.  Sometimes difficult to find a table!  Crew was amazing.  We did not make reservations at the WJ and must have missed that memo but had no issues.

Yup…it was also open for dinner on the Oasis Nov3-7.  We checked it out for breakfast and for lunch (not every day though) as well as after dinner but ate our actual dinners in the MDR.  Never made reservations and always found an available table.  We also liked the Solarium for breakfast.
